Dr. Roni Glassman PT, DPT on Instagram: "We love a hip hinge ❤️   I’m consistently shocked by how many of my patients go to the gym and lift HEAVY loads during squats, deadlifts, etc… but when asked to do a hip hinge, they’re at a loss 🤷🏼‍♀️  Common mistakes I see are: leading with the chest, rounding the back, overtly bending the knees   The hip hinge is a foundational movement for a squat, deadlift, and to simple pick something up from the ground!   The dowel (or pole) is a good way to give patients a tactile cue to understand how their torso is supposed to move as a unit.
