Andrea on Instagram: "There was one spot to put a tv in our living room and that was above the fireplace. The fireplace is tall and deep so it made the tv too high to view comfortably. With our MantleMount at @bestbuy we are able to pull the tv down to a comfortable viewing height, it clears my seasonal decor and is easy to put back up. Since we have gas logs, it’s to turn the fire off when we want to watch tv or we just put it back up. However, the fireplace installer also said we could probably watch tv (just not the whole day) with a fire going since it’s a full two feet from the fire and the mantle is 12” deep so it blocks most of the heat. Having the ability to pull the tv down and turn it to whichever angle we want is perfect! Okay, this is a pretty specific topic, but it's definitely a interior design conundrum and it's been on my mind. As we've been house shopping, I naturally try to picture our things in each space. Every time I see a home with a fireplace my mind immediately thinks, "where will I put the TV?"

So, when you have a fireplace that is a the focal point of a room AND you place a large TV off to the side, it can sometimes look misplaced and asymmetrical. My hack for that? Get an adjustable, motorized wall mount that allows you to lower the TV whenever you’re actively watching it.
