sorry to be kinda bitter in such a happy message, but i need y'all to know that as #cool and #sexy and #flawless beyond reproach that i am, growing up i was the kind of kid who would have people ask about my interests just so they could make fun of me for liking them. you don’t have to share my interests – i have plenty of close friends who hate homestuck even! – but is it really necessary to make a dig about the interests i’m already being harassed for sharing? like as recently as TODAY?

i almost got into homestuck about 5 years ago but i got the impression it was a largely homophobic edgy thing that just so happened to have a large nostalgic queer audience so i never actually started reading. (i think i thought that because someone mentioned the slur replacer thingy or something)
but from reading your posts about it i have realised that the reason that so many gay autistic trans girls like it is because it is those things and i would probably like it too and im going to read it soon :D
a lot of people get this impression and tbh it’s a shame because a good deal of the stuff people assumed was just “edgy” was in fact like. depicting teenagers and how they talk — some of the characters in early homestuck are pretty homophobic & tell some pretty homophobic jokes… because they’re deep in the closet & have no idea how to fit in otherwise. and this isn’t even subtext, this is basically told to us on screen by characters eventually, but even before that Homestuck spends literally thousands of pages circling around the theme of “these kids think they have it all figured out but actually…”
don’t get me wrong, there are plenty of those late 2000s internet style jokes/problems but it isn’t like internet south park like some people might tell you it is lmfao
