• ❔ What is Magma ❔

    • Magma is a free browser based art program where all participants can draw on the same canvas at the same time!
    • Magma works on both PC and mobile devices! It works on all available browsers, however the Chrome one is the most supported at this moment!
    • Magma has the tools you can find in most art programs! More tools are being added regularly, and you can request them too!
    • Hosting a session is easy! After setting up an account you create a new canvas and share the link with your friends, or invite everyone by sharing the link in your social media. That’s all, you can start drawing!

    ❔ Who are we ❔

      • We are the passionate small group of Pokemon fans, who shares the love for art and Pokemon series!
        • Originally created by ChooChooJun (our Magma admin) on their blog as the small session for Subway Boss fans - it grew up to be the Pokemon fandom event sessions, where we all connects with the fans around the world to draw and have fun!
          • In 2023 Jun was hosting on their account every month (at some point with the help of volunteers). This year we decided to create a whole team that will take care of the events - and with that, separated accounts/blogs for that!
            • To make it easier to navigate around the blog, here are our tags for posts:
pokemagma events - new tag created for this blog
#jun’s magma events - old tag, you can still use it!
              #info - blog informations
              #announcement - session announcement
              #results - session final results!
#issue - if something will happen, like psd files full of glitches or magma not allowing to join, we will use this to inform you all
              #archive - for old sessions

    ❗ Event Rules ❗

    👍 Do’s:
            • Have fun! These events are meant to get you inspired, get to know other artists and create awesome art and ideas together!
            • Everyone is welcome to join the events! You don’t need to draw anything there, you can also just come and chat with us and watch others do their magic! Lurking is totally fine too!
            • Collaborate! Any drawing ideas other people can participate in or interact with are highly appreciated!
            • You are allowed to paste reference images in the session to use as a base etc.! However, pasting permissions are disabled by default - message a mod on-session to receive them temporarily. Please remove the references when you don’t need them anymore and make sure not to cover areas where others are currently drawing!
            • Keep it PG!
            • Let us know if you need more time to finish your piece as soon as possible! If you know you aren’t going to finish yours, please release the space for others to use!
            • Flatten your layers after you have finished your piece! Magma has only 60 layers per canvas!
            • U CUTE!!!
    👎 Don'ts:
            • Avoid drawing too big! Make sure to leave enough space for other people’s drawings. (max. 1/6th of the canvas per drawing is ideal!)
            • No ship art! Just to keep things simple & to ensure everyone’s comfort on the sessions.
            • Avoid drawing over the canvas frames!
            • Do not post/share Magma art that feature other artists’ unpublished works without permission! Ask for their permission first, or use Magma’s layer visibility feature to hide other people’s layers. You can also download a .PSD file of the canvas and edit it in your chosen graphic software.
            • Avoid bringing heavy topics in the chat! We wish to ensure everyone feels comfortable in the events. If you really need to talk you must ask first if other participants are alright with the topic.
            • Don’t hesitate to ask anything! Our mods and regulars are very happy to help you make the most of the event! You can contact us via DMs or reach for us in the sessions.

    💖 Magma Tips 💖

            • You can export the images as PNGs, JPGs & PSDs so you can save your layers and keep editing them on your own device!
            • You can have multiple Magma sessions open in your browser at once!
            • Magma has a text chat we love to hang out in! It’s optional of course but we would be happy to have you there!
            • You can send private messages to others by being on the same canvas with the receiver & clicking their icon on the chat!
            • You may keep working on your unfinished piece & hang out in the chat after the event ends, until the post-processing is done!
            • For PokeMagma veterans, sessions were tagged previously as #jun’s magma events and you can still use this tag! For this blog, we will use #pokemagma event !

    🔨 Issues 🔨

            • Some users have experienced disasters losing layers for good by pressing CTRL + X, we recommend avoiding that for now!
            • Save regularly! Magma is a server based program so it’s not as stable as your usual art programs. Also when the program refreshes you might lose some of your progress. Better saved than sorry!
            • If you log out or have the session open on multiple devices, you might lose the rights to your own layers. Try closing the tab on other devices first, or ask either admins or approved users (mods) to give the layers back to you!
            • If Magma is going slow for you, try turning off the graphics accelerator. Go to Edit > Settings > Turn off Graphics Accelerator.
            • Merge layers with layer effects starting from bottom to top! For some reason Magma messes them up easily and the results won’t look the way you want.
            • Magma also has a voice call option but we prefer not to use it. However it’s easy to misclick the button! Don’t be alarmed!
              • We’re continually figuring out new features and bugs in each session to make them as smooth and fun for you as we can! Let us know if you have any issues!
    👉 Notable 👉
            • It’s always well appreciated if you draw official Pokémon characters because most of us are into submas and Pokémon in general!
            • It may take a while until the results are ready to be posted, please be patient!
