making Van the person who rigs the cards & the group’s storyteller is such a good concept to me bc what is a storyteller but a person who controls a narrative, who decides what direction it’s going to go in & holds the strings of fate? she was doing exactly the same w the cards.

yellowjackets van palmer my personal unpopular opinion is that she should have died in the 96 timeline right before they got rescued the adult actress is great and adult Van has some great lines and such but her being reintroduced derailed tai's narrative and she's kinda just...there it would have been much more impactful to have her be the one to hold the cards but thus it made her unable to escape the narrative she was trying to control

Tiny Tuesday Question

Show of hands, who has also seen Providence? No, not the X-Files episode, the TV show that ran from 1999-2002. Well, I don't see many hands up, so I'll explain. It was a medical drama about a woman named Syd and her family, including her mother who died in the series premiere. Her mom was a character, though, appearing mostly to Syd in dreams.

Say, there were a lot of dead people on The X-Files too, weren't there?

If The X-Files had a ghost appear on a regular basis, which family member would have been most impactful in that non-corporeal role?

Perhaps we'll do non-family as another poll

The adult yellowjackets are so highly unemployed... Nat was just vibing and doing drugs, Shauna's job was raising Callie and she was half-assing it before she decided to have an affair and blow that shit up, Melissa stayed home in a school day to professionaly wear her hat. Lottie's job was cult leader? Do you think she paid herself through a llc? Van had a store that must have been in the red and straight up abandoned that... Taissa was the most "successful" one and now she can't afford gas. Misty truly the best adjusted one even if she seems to torture old people in her job.

When Jeff was talking to Callie about how lonely it is to be Shauna's husband I realized that they were showing him doing things /with/ Callie that Shauna was doing in secret without her. Like we see Shauna being creepy in Callie's bed in the pilot and her sleepover with Tai was in Callie's bed too but here we see Jeff actually sitting with Callie in her room, being present. Or instead of stealing her weed to smoke in secret, Jeff decided to smoke with her. it really highlighted how absent and emotionally unavailable Shauna is even when she is home with them.
