Hi, I'm posting this article because sport is always political. Every single Finnish article I've read about Ovechkin and his goal record has mentioned his connection to Putin and the role he plays in Russian war propaganda, but I have also seen many North American articles that don't mention this at all.

If you haven't read this article from 2023 yet, I highly recommend you do. It goes into detail about how Ovechkin supports Putin and discussion on why he and the NHL get criticized for this. There are surely some newer articles, too, so feel free to add to this if you have any recs.

Dex peeks around the corner into the kitchen. ”Bitty …” he stage-whispers. “Can we talk?”

For a long time now, the kitchen has served as many things: sometimes courtroom, sometimes therapy space, sometimes bar. Bitty wears a multitude of hats in this room. “Of course,” he says lightly, sensing that some tea is about to be spilled but keeping his voice and smile light.

Dex sits backward on one of the chairs near the table. “It’s about Nurse.”

This is not the biggest surprise in the world. “Oh?”

“You know he gets on my nerves.”

“Oh, no,” says Bitty, “what did you two get into it about now?”

Dex grumbles. “Nothing,” he says. “It’s not that.”  And before Bitty can inquire what it is, Dex gets up from the chair and pokes his head out in the hallway, looking in both directions as though trying to check if anyone’s in earshot. Satisfied, he returns to the chair, sits on it properly this time, and leans toward Bitty furtively. 

“Bitty,” he mumbles, “I think I might kind of like him.”

Dex squints at him for a long moment, watching a blush slightly darken the apples of Nursey’s cheeks, just above his neatly trimmed stubble. “How many people did you ask before me?”

“Seven.”

It’s Dex’s turn to sock him in the arm, and Nursey laughs brightly, immediately returning to his usual self with the reintroduction of their playful physicality. He dances away before Dex can hit him again. “Kidding! You were the first name that came to mind, Scout’s honor. You think anyone else would put up with my particular brand of nonsense?”

“I think half of Samwell would.”

“But none of them would look as cute and grumpy about it the whole time as you.”
