Thy smiles I note, sweet early Flower, that peeping from thy rustic bower. The festive news to earth dost bring, a fragrant messenger of Spring. But, tender blossom, why so pale? Dost hear stern Winter in the gale? And didst thou tempt the ungentle sky to catch one vernal glance and die?

We already know the drill—you pretend to be an interviewer and talk about what inspired you while working on this project. This time around it's The Primrose Garden. What went into creating The Primrose Garden and what inspired you to create it?

Question sent by garniers

When I work on theme packages I intend to give users the feeling they’re not just looking at a theme preview full of placeholder posts, and words that don’t really mean anything. I want to pay homage to the community members—particularly administrators—who work so hard to communicate the message of their groups, and who somehow always manage to knock it out of the park and the air out of us. Because in all my years of roleplaying, a hobby I quit just recently, I must add, they wrapped themselves around me and urged me to join under the promise I would be part of something bigger than myself. I always try to give my theme packages a personality of their own, like many of these groups.

I’m officially no longer a roleplayer, but I’m a sentimental creature nonetheless, and I wanted my last hurrah as a roleplayer to be an attempt at capturing how much I’ve loved these groups and the feelings of creativity and sorority so proper of them.

I first worked on the Hauntings at the McGillies House as filling for a Work In Progress page I made last year called Angelica. Angelica had a supporting character named Freya Blythe, a witch posing as a clairvoyant who agreed to help Ceira McGillies solve the mystery of her sister’s disappearance, Freya Blythe shaped what The Garden and The Primrose Garden would become. Located in San Francisco, California, around the late 1930s, The Primrose Garden is a story about hauntings, magic, and found families; with a new generation eager to bring the McGillies House back to its former glory front and center. Freya Blythe—and the rest of the characters—make a comeback through their children, young and hungry, unaware of the secrets buried underneath the flower beds of this big old house.

I wanted to capture the boldness of a new generation taking over, which also symbolizes my leaving roleplaying behind, through its aesthetics. I wanted something vibrant and eye-catching, over the lugubrious vibes I’m known for when it comes to graphics, and that was the perfect opportunity to revisit the graphics from The Garden. Since graphics were not included, the first time around, this was my opportunity to provide you with user-friendly templates that could help you bring your vision to life. When it comes to coding choices, The Garden was already influenced by social media UIs, so all I had to do was lean further into that. This should allow you to use this theme for different projects if you like it but don’t necessarily belong to the roleplay community.

That should make two of us!
