David Morrison was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa in 1956. He received his MFA in Printmaking from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1985. A visiting lecturer and guest artist at numerous universities, he is very involved in the world of printmaking, specifically stone lithography, and he is the Professor Emeritus at Indiana University’s Herron School of Art and Design in Indianapolis. David L Morrison on Instagram: "I’ve started reworking and making final adjustment to this colored pencil drawing of a magnolia blossom. Putting the drawing away for a week has helped me see it in a new light. One of the main things I have discover is the surface you are drawing on can make a big difference. I like to draw on plexiglass for a variety of reasons. First of all, the surface enables me to apply heavy pressure and burnishing. I love how the flower is opened up to show the majestic beauty inside. The magnolia tree in our yard has had special significant to me as I’ve drawn it for years. I’m constantly looking at the magnolia tree as it goes through its life cycle and recording its existence through the drawings.
