Throughout China's thousand-year ceramic history, artisans used saggar boxes to shield clay from ash and tamed flames with precision, all to create "flawless" porcelain. Ashform rebels against tradition, turning the kiln into a wild stage: carving paths for raging fire, letting ash pour like storm rain, and igniting a fierce dialogue between clay and nature at 1,300oC. Ashform's works reject molds and industrial glazes, embracing only three languages of nature: Flowing Fire Traces: When flames pierce the clay, they leave golden veins that shift like wild cursive calligraphy strokes; Ash-Glazed Mysteries: Pinewood ash melts in heat, colliding with iron in clay to birth 72 distinct kiln-transformed hues--from ink-blue to crow-black and rust-red; Stone-Like Textures: Bare clay Calligraphy Strokes, Cursive Calligraphy, Stone Texture, Handmade Wood, Blue Ink, Fine Art Ceramics, Ceramic Mug, Glaze, Ash

To protect them I base a series of small trays to fire these in. Where the bronze breaks the surface, it forms these small crystal... This is my biggest Adansonii leaf planter yet! I have been drawn to working very large, or in miniature lately. Which is pretty funny considering I don’t have access to a kiln large enough to fire this big pieces.
