Martha 🏳️‍🌈 |📍London on Instagram: "12 years ago when I started growing food, the common advice was to do a lot of digging. I had a clay allotment and I spent hours doing my back in digging heavy sticky soil. Thankfully those days are long behind me. No dig makes starting a new veg garden so much easier. For more info on no dig check out @charles_dowding and his amazing no dig veg garden. I’ve planted 3 varieties of gooseberry Hinnonmaki Green, Red and Yellow for a range of different coloured fruits. If you’ve only ever had sour unripe gooseberries that you can buy in the shops then I promise you growing your own will be a revelation. So floral and sweet. #nodig #allotment #gooseberry #gardeningforbeginners" No Work Garden, Allotment Layout Uk, Diy Allotment Ideas, No Dig Garden Layout, Allotment Ideas Inspiration Uk, Garden Allotment Ideas, Allotments Ideas, No Dig Gardening, Uk Allotment

I’ve noticed a reduction of weeds, though this did take a few repeat top ups of cardboard and compost. I’ve also noticed my crops come out of the ground fairly clean, which is an unexpected benefit to no dig, but apparently a real thing!

There are so many benefits to taking a no dig approach on the environment. You don’t disturb the micro bacteria in the soil, or the bugs. And carbon remains locked in the No Dig Allotment Uk, No Dig Garden, Allotment Ideas, Allotment Garden, Dig Gardens, Allotment Gardening, Time Saver, The Soil, Gardening For Beginners
