A few years ago I shared a tutorial on How to Make a Wet Felted Lantern For Winter Solstice. This project has always been a favourite in our home. This year we wanted to try the same technique on mason jars to create a lantern with sturdier sides.

When our sweet niece was legally adopted we were fortunate enough to go to the courthouse, witness this and explain to our kids that their new cousin was now legally part of our family. On our way out to the car after, I noticed a ton of acorns had dropped from the trees. As my husband loaded our kids, I gathered as many as I could and shoved them in my pocket. As a waldorf teacher I create these 3" peg doll felt gnomes for my class each year. Valuing diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI), a variety of skin tones are available. Each pine wood peg doll contains plant dyed wool felt, beads, embroidery and beading thread. The light pegs are unfinished, the medium pegs finished with beeswax and the dark dyed with black tea and beeswax. Because of their size and shape they are not intended for unsupervised play for children under 3 years old.

Magic wands! Homeschooling children in our Woodworking and Handwork classes finished creating birch wands with handles wrapped in leather with a stone bead. Plus, a plant-dyed wool, hand-stitched felt wand case with a crocheted handle and needle-felted embellishments.
