What is Puomi?

Puomi is an interactive set of rooms (yes, you may have your own to decorate with things) based on community's interface from the year 2007 that required Shockwave Player to function. Puomi also uses a Shockwave-based client program.
The project was initiated in fall 2008, changed to older interface with international version launch late 2014 and changed back to 2007 interface in 1.6.2016 with an improved backend.

How to get started? What should I download?

A Windows system is required, typically desktop or laptop. An older device will work fine.
There are two options to enter Puomi: The launcher program and browser plugin.

Launcher program is hassle-free to set up and includes access to :zoom command to change window size.

Browser plugin requires NPAPI (Firefox plugin) compatible, 32-bit version browser and tends to be heavier user of system RAM, but it can download client items over secured HTTPS connection.

Launcher Program downloads:

1× size (3.4 MB, SHA256 integrity checksum: 73734a5362dc63f27c5f689d487b596e25665e3126c86b1b3ca9d9ef13545818)
2× size (3.4 MB, SHA256 integrity checksum: e7a4cee8e2159117e7f277ad4cc5b4dc85db94dc7ca855bf02f02a9e09f726fa)

Browser plugin example setup:

The procedure below works on Windows systems. The browser must be 32-bit regardless of supported bits on your operating system.

  1. Get Pale Moon 32-bit (installer or portable)
  2. Install Shockwave 11.0 (9.5 MB, SHA256 integrity checksum: d8c937bdaf65223befb49458b1e11ab95e16936d12ca8dd89f0d5997a649c38f)
  3. Install Shockwave 11.0 Compatibility Components (6.3 MB, SHA256 integrity checksum: bbc675a14669e179052430c782604920f4c86fe9502914bf3237c118f721d4f4)
  4. Launch Pale Moon browser (32-bit) and enter Puomi through the links on this website.

I can't change chat mode / dance mode / room category! OR
I can't use any dice or slot machines! (while standing next to them)
(Browser plugin bug)

While still logged in, right click on Enter Puomi link at the top of this page and select Open Link in New Tab. You should be still logged in at the main window and opening this other one in the same browser. You can close the new window/tab after verifying that the feature works again in the first window.

How do I get credits?

1–15 credits are given up to 3 times per hour, each time with a chance of a bigger, 50–150 credit prize or random item prize. A detailed breakdown can be seen at the Wiki.

In the Poker hall public game room, you can bet against other players that have entered the --placebets command after joining a poker table.
Playing 10 rounds in a row will increase the size of bets by 10 credits, 10 more rounds increase bets by another 10, and so on, until all players leave the table.

Earning points in battleball and snowfight games can make you some extra credits.

Deleting individual furniture will give you a rounded-down half of the catalogue cost of the item in credits.

The Daily Gift can be a voucher for 50–150 credits or random item prize.

How do the slot machines work?

If you have slot machines from Accessories page, you can set them up so that other players can use them, giving you player's losses or player receives credit prizes from you. Use --slotsetup command to configure your slot machines that are in the room. Other users can use --slotsetup command to see the configuration on your slot machines.

Initially, all slot machines are unconfigured. Drop any slot machines that you want to configure inside a room and see usage from --slotsetup command to learn the setup options. Configurations with zeroes or bigger miss penalty than big prize will not be applied and instead causes a reset of slot machines to an unconfigured state.

For example, let's say you wanted your slot machine with a slot machine setup that:

  1. Lets others play as long as you have 250 credits. The slot machine will not play for credits if your budget gets too low.
  2. Rewards the player with either 4, 8 or 12 credits. The rewards will be given directly from your own credits.
  3. Costs the player 6 credits whenever a MISS is hit while using the slot machine. The credits will be directly transferred from player to you.
The command to make a setup like above would be:
--slotsetup 250 4 8 12 -6

You can learn more about the Puomi Slot Machine System at the Wiki.

How can I change my username?

You can request a new name from the management. You can contact management team by call-for-help, console messaging or finding one visiting a room.

Can I join the team? Are you looking for staff?

There is a chance for you to rank up through the Community Helper program of Puomi. Leave a request into Recruitment Office room and make a management member aware of your recent application to get started.

We often recommend getting your own retro to experiment around with rather than trying to escalate privileges in Puomi. Some visitors and management members here may have some experience setting one up.
