The one thing I defo liked better about the first iteration tbh was the second bowl where the rot was only visible inside with maybe a slight shape change. Did that one like fall down or burst in the oven or something this time? If not, what lead you to the decision to leave it out?

i know, i liked that about the first series too :^[ the second orange with the mold only on the inside adds a fun surprise and gives the effect of a more gradual decay….. i left it out this time because i was running out of clay + time the day i threw those oranges so i stuck with three and threw some other pieces i wanted to do. i know i could have added it back in at any time but i get antsy about having multiple pieces in the same set in different stages… which is something i need to get over. i’ve been trying to make the perfect pencil holder + bowl combo for my desk at work but for whatever reason one out of the two always gets messed up but i don’t want to redo it to match the one that made it so i try both again and again when i simply don’t need to…. anyways.
i also just like an odd number of things more than even (and four of anything specifically bugs me, like i would rather do five oranges next time before doing four again) 🍊
a compromise! i wasn’t liking how this berry bowl was turning out for a different project so i repurposed it into a moldy orange 🍊 not starting out with the intention of making an orange (and not spending as much time and care into glazing as i should have) means it doesn’t quite fit perfectly into the rot series, but oh well, it’s a cute little bonus piece. and what a fun way to approach all pieces that i don’t like: get moldy, idiot.

fantastic questions. one thing about me is i love watching a pervert loner weirdo creep freak on screen.
hunter schafer would kill it as an obsessive artist who would go to any lengths for her work, or as an outcast weirdgirl in general a la angela bettis in may (2002). heather matarazzo is obviously iconic for her weirdgirl roles, but i’d love for her to play something a bit against type, a woman not ostracized but in charge…. only she’s got a horrid secret pastime… conversely, i want to see kyle gallner in a role that’s more pathetic and crybabyish. maybe another mother/son thing like mother may i (2023) but make it more deranged (1974). david jonsson was the only part of alien: romulus (2024) that i liked so i’d love to see him in a movie that’s worthy of him. he’s so good at being robotic and stilted so he’s perfect for a loner character study. oh, you know, he would kill it as something like julian sands’ character in boxing helena (1993), where he’s awkward and creepy but also wistful and romantic…. much to think about.
maren bones and all (2023) is literally a cannibal, but taylor russel is capable of weird little freak performances we can’t even conceive of. controversial, but i think laurence r. harvey of the human centipede 2 (2011) deserves a role in a good film. he wouldn’t play a character quite as depraved as martin, but being in something that isn’t mediocre schlock could make him shine. sterling k. brown is a true star and i’m dyinggg to see him as a weird little guy in a weird little horror movie. fucking mark duplass’ pussy in biosphere (2022) was a nice treat but it didn’t satiate my appetite. lightning round: georgina campbell, adam scott, jennifer carpenter, dichen lachman, will arnett, dev patel…. there’s many more but these are what came to mind
i will also say that glenn howerton as dennis reynolds is truly one of the greatest acting performances of all time and it kills me that no one else knows this. i’ve said it before and i’ll say it again, but it’s a tragedy that howerton didn’t star in countless shitty 2000’s horror movies, in which he could have played any number of freak roles, including obsessive boyfriend red herring, perverted voice over the phone, voyeuristic stalker neighbor, pretty boy homoerotic sex crime killer, and many more. i mean, all of those are also dennis reynolds #moments, but you get what i’m saying. one day i’ll make my movies and he can play the grossnastyerotic medical malpractice doctor of my dreams.
I've written posts for my friend Israa @nasseer220 before, and she once again needs our help to evacuate as soon as possible when the border opens. Israa is a mother to two young children, her son Nasser, and her daughter Enaam. Enaam was born during the genocide and contracted hepatitis, which caused her to need urgent surgery to save her life. With her youngest in delicate health, Israa needs to be able to evacuate as soon as she can, and also seek medical treatment, not only for Enaam, but for her entire family.
Israa's father recently passed away because he had a stroke while also battling cancer, and she was unable to pay for his care. Please, this time, don't abandon her, and share and donate so she can save her young children.
