one time when i was 17 i watched an episode of doctor who (tennant years) that made me so inconsolable that i went upstairs to my mom and i sobbed like, "please don't make fun of me, i'm so upset about a fake person from a tv show right now i can't stop crying." she let me sit in her lap and tell her all about the episode and i stopped crying and said i felt so stupid and she started laughing and she said, "i once cried this hard in college over a star trek episode. want to hear about it?" i said yes and then while she told me about the episode she got upset all over again 30 years later and she started crying and then i started laughing about it so hard i started crying again
"why are men becoming violent misogynists" "why are young boys turning alt right" looks like someone believed too hard in Men Are Hurt By Misogyny Too
like. Be so for real . Why did misogyny exist for thousands of years as a globalized social force? Men benefit astronomically from misogyny. Under a misogynist society men have privilege, socially-tied life servants to cater to their whim that they can beat legally when they're mad. Misogyny strictly and specifically benefits men. Why wouldn't young stupid men want that. It takes incredible mental fortitude, strength of soul, and utter unselfishness to resist a mode of thinking that tells you "actually you're the pinnacle of your society and everyone should listen to you and cater to you and suck your dick whenever you want". It's fucking incredible that any men are feminists. Any infinitesimal harm that men are dealt under patriarchy is entirely outweighed by its material benefits to their specific gender.
Can men be feminists? Yes. But I'm urging you to think about how easy it is for men under patriarchy. And how individualistic and selfish American society is. It will never be the easier or safer choice for men to be feminists. It will never be "in their best interests"
yeah, men are hurt by misogyny only in the way that is meant to further encourage them to be misogynists
"don't have feminine interests, or we will call you a faggot"
"always be masculine and aggressive, or we will be aggressive towards you"
"treat women like servants, or we will call you whipped and weak"
all to make the path of least resistance, and most reward, right down male-chauvinism-boulevard, bby
mhm, even in this way patriarchy is reinforced by beating anything "woman-like". A self-correcting, violently upheld system
Many transfem people before me have said this better, but the punishment is only ever inflicted in the direction away from the male centric. This isn't something men magically experience "for being men" it is only when they begin to in any way reference or present womanhood that they are violently corrected. Misogyny as a male conding activity.
Under patriarchy, Man isn't even a cogent category. It lives in perpetual reference and disgust towards Woman, and anything that becomes Woman. You see this in male flight from careers that become more woman dominated.
The male centric depends excluding women, in whatever form it can manage it.
Am I describing how "man" as a gender should be? No. Nor am I describing the ways in which people find euphoria in their own masculine presentation. I am describing a mode of oppression that every woman and non-man lives under by virtue of being "without" the perfect male ideal.
A prominent computer scientist who has spent 20 years publishing academic papers on cryptography, privacy, and cybersecurity has gone incommunicado, had his professor profile, email account, and phone number removed by his employer, Indiana University, and had his homes raided by the FBI. No one knows why.
...
Fellow researchers took to social media over the weekend to register their concern over the series of events.
"None of this is in any way normal," Matthew Green, a professor specializing in cryptography at Johns Hopkins University, wrote on Mastodon. He continued: "Has anyone been in contact? I hear he’s been missing for two weeks and his students can’t reach him. How does this not get noticed for two weeks???"
In the same thread, Matt Blaze, a McDevitt professor of computer science and law at Georgetown University, said: "It's hard to imagine what reason there could be for the university to scrub its website as if he never worked there. And while there's a process for removing tenured faculty, it takes more than an afternoon to do it."
if female top nudity weren't viewed as inherently sexually explicit. oh brother. I would be letting those puppies hang like you wouldn't believe
the thing is I would be okay with being viewed as sexually attractive while topless. like a shirtless cis man can be a considered a hunk beefcake eye candy etc but it's not by nature r-rated. usamerican society at large is able to understand that toplessness can be sexually appealing but is not in itself a sexual act when a man does it. if I could be just casually topless on a hot day or something without the little flashing light over my head saying think of the CHILDREN I would be getting minoan with it

you try to be subtle about your wants and desires and realize that no one in your life actually knows who you are. you try to be unsubtle about your wants and desires and they shoot you dead like a lame horse. so really you’ve got options.
