Good percentage of Nigerians live in abject poverty, unemployment is on the high and productivity is at its lowest level. Economic diversification has been regarded as a major tool for sustainable growth and development in Nigeria. This research sorts the possible ways of diversifying the productive base of the Nigerian economy. For Nigeria to discontinuity loose from the problems inherent in a mono-economy, especially one largely dominated by oil, which is subject to depletion, international price shocks and unfavorable quota arrangement, there is need for diversification. This paper therefore addressed the inherent aberration in Nigeria mono-product economy which, over the years, has been glossed over by deliberate inadvertence. It traced the root of this aberration to the overarching posture of oil as the country primary revenue earner since its discovery in 1956. The near-total neglect of the other sectors of the economy as a result of the heavy dependence on oil earnings saw the country drift into recession. Thus, this paper took a look at the role of agriculture and manufacturing sector, tourism and hospitality as tools for economic diversification and sustenance in Nigeria, with emphasis on how rising investment in agriculture sector and modernization of the sector can improve the economic growth of Nigeria. The paper revealed that investment in agriculture, tourism and hospitality have a significant impact on Nigeria economic growth in both the short run and long run. The implication for the findings is that there is urgent need for massive mobilization of local financing and creation of institutions that are transparent enough to encourage large scale investment in the areas mentioned in this paper. The sectors can be strengthened through provision of soft loans, subsidized costs of inputs and machines and strengthening farmers' capacity on marketing and exportation of their outputs.
