Common ivy

Common ivy is often used as an ornamental plant. However, the herbal uses for ivy were once well known. Here's a glimpse into the herbal uses for ivy!

Common or English Ivy bonsai tree, Hedera helix . My grandmother collected this ivy plant as a tiny seedling from local woodland and planted it in her back garden. Many years later she asked me to dig it up as it was taking over. I pruned it back to not much more than a stump and planted it into a very free draining soil to encourage root growth.
