Hosta 'Francee' (fortunei) (Plantain Lily)

Regarded as one of the best white-margined hostas, 'Francee' (Plantain Lily) is an outstanding perennial forming a dense, arching mound of broadly heart-shaped, rich dark green leaves, 6 in. long (15 cm), with narrow white margins. Funnel-shaped pale lavender blooms appear in late summer, rising on scapes 28 in. long (70 cm). A popular choice, 'Francee' increases fairly quickly and is therefore excellent for landscaping. Terrific in containers too.

These hardy perennials thrive in lightly shaded areas of the garden, either in borders or patio containers. Large, corrugated blue-green leaves with wide golden margins that resist sun scorch.
