🐕 Place a Mat onto the floor
🐕 Lure your dog over to the mat and place into a down
🐕 Shower the mat with treats (to build positive associations and to build duration)
🐕 Slow your rate of reinforcement. Give a treat every 5 seconds, 10 and so on. This is to build duration and keep them staying for longer

Lastly, proof their settle. This means taking them to different places and building up an amazing settle.

✅️ Take your time
✅️ Use the same mat when out and about
✅️ Practice this inside and out. It can be used with visitors, outside settles and various other situations

And what they end up doing is… - letting them meet every dog they walk by - greeting every person on a walk - running up to guests at home If you do these, you are teaching your dog that approaching every dog or person you walk by is okay. ***Like and save this reel to refer back to for future reference 💕✨***

Step 1: Introduce holding the leash and reward when successful. (Refer back to my tutorial on how to hold an object.)

Step 2: Have your pup pick up the leash and hold it. Be sure to reward any correct actions.

Step 3: Get your pup to pick up the leash, place your hand under their mouth and ask them to ‘drop it’ into your hand. Reward to mark this correct action! 👏🏽

Step 4: Start moving the leash further away and have them bring it back to you. Introduce your verbal cue here—I use “get your leash.”

Continue to move the leash further away, and finally, place the leash on an object and have them retrieve it for you! Medium Rare Steak, Puppy Leash, Rare Steak, Bring It Back, Dog Hacks, Dog Trainer, Dog Stuff, Bring It, Australian Shepherd
