Lonicera nitida 'Elegant' is a more compact cultivar than the species, making an equally effective hedge. A tightly packed evergreen screen is formed by small dark green leaves densely packed onto long stems. This evergreen shrubby honeysuckle is simple to keep at a manageable size and has a clean and orderly look after pruning. It tolerates frequent pruning and can even be used to create a formal topiary in place of traditional Yew plants. The creamy white blooms that appear in the spring are accompanied by purple-blue berries that attract a variety of birds. Height and spread: 1.8m (6') if left unpruned.
