Can quail “free range”?

Yes…., but you will probably never see them again. When we think of free-ranging, we often think about chickens. We think about them coming out of their coop and enjoying the yard, and then around sunset, they come back to the coop to stay the night, all safe and sound. But quail don’t come back to coops. 

Quail are, by nature, nomadic. They roam and move wherever they feel safe, which means they will leave and never come back. 

So, what are our other options if we can’t free range? 

If you want them on the ground, you could build an aviary. You can make it as big as you would like, and because quails are much smaller than chickens, it would be as if they are free-ranging. You could build it large enough to put a Quail Coop, Coturnix Quail, Quails, Yes But, Safe And Sound, Free Range, Feel Safe, On The Ground, Coop
