A: They mean almost the same thing. Participate is more active. A person who participates really wants to help the team or group.

Joining is more passive. A person who joins, might not be as interested.

attach is a little more permanent and usually more for objects.
Attach the rope to the tree. Tie the rope to the tree.

"involve" means to include as a part of something. It can also mean to be associated with someone or something.

You never use "involve in" as you have given it. It would be "involve (someone) in (something)" though "involve" can be used in other ways. See the example sentences:

"Please don't involve the police in this matter."

Join in: To START taking part in something that other people are ALREADY doing

A: It's natural, "If possible" is emphasized by the presence of "at all". :)
If you say "I'll join you if at all possible", it sounds more sincere than "I'll be there if possible."
