The slip knot is not only useful in a wide variety of outdoor scenarios, but also incredibly simple to tie. Especially if you already know how to tie a basic fishing knot. It allows you to create a loop in the end of a length of rope in seconds. Furthermore, the size of that loop can be easily adjusted after the knot is complete, so you don’t have to be overly concerned about making it the perfect size while tying. The Knotty Boss - Anna Leyzina on Instagram: "Welcome to another #JustATipTuesday - Did you know you can start your foundation without a visible knot?

If you ever find that your slip knot is getting in the way, or you simply prefer the look of your foundation without a knot just do the following:
- wrap the tail over your working yarn to create a loop and pinch to secure in place.
- insert hook into loop and draw up working yarn through the loop - this creates your temporary knot.
- begin making your foundation chains
- after several chains let go of the initial loop and pull the tail to unravel the temporary knot.
IMPORTANT: Don’t pull on the tail too tight or you’ll turn your first chain into a slip knot.
