Skin tissue

Researchers have developed a new way to see organs within a body by rendering overlying tissues transparent to visible light. The counterintuitive process—a topical application of food-safe dye—was reversible in tests with animal subjects, and may ultimately apply to a wide range of medical diagnostics, from locating injuries to monitoring digestive disorders to identifying cancers.

The integumentary system consists of the largest organ of the body, the skin. Composed of three layers, the skin protects internal organs and tissues.

Epithelial tissues serve many purposes such as protection, secretion, absorbs, and filters what goes through cavities. There are many types of epithelial tissues, such as the epidermis (which is the outer layer of the skin). Epithelial tissues protects the body from bacteria. The epithelial tissues actually removes dust that is ingested during respiration. WOW! Note worthy!

This tissue is made of white and clear cells that store fat droplets, so wherever there is fat there is adipose tissue! This tissue with fat insulates the body and provides cushion and energy. One can identify this tissue by its big white circles that represent the fat cells in the body. An issue with this can become if there becomes too much/big of adipose tissue created because that then would result in obesity.

The subcutaneous tissue, also known as the hypodermis or superficial fascia, is the layer of tissue that underlies the skin. The terms originate from subcutaneous in Latin and hypoderm in Greek, both of which mean “beneath the skin,” as it is the deepest layer that rests just above the deep fascia.
