Summary

What to say...

I'm from a small town in Pennsylvania, and I like making websites.

Back in the day, I used to mess with HTML and page styling on sites like Neopets, Xanga, and MySpace. For some reason, I never really considered that to be a career, so pursued Information Technology instead.

While working in IT, I continued to code. I worked on a few projects for my employer, as well as freelance projects to flesh out my portfolio. After seven years working as a Network Technician, I switched careers to be a web developer.

Since then, I've done a lot of rad things.

Timeline

2006

The year I graduated high school. I was working at a small, locally owned gas station and deli with my friends. Really fun time.

2008

Moved packages around a dock for a major shipping company. Once, one of the other dock workers asked me if this was a summer job, which I confirmed. He then proceeded to tell me it was his summer job as well... 16 years ago. That's when I decided to go back to school.

2010

Earned an Associate's Degree in Information Technology. My first "tech" job was a call-center technician position for a DSL Internet provider. It wasn't very fun.

2011

Hired as a Network Technician at a senior living facility. Now this was a real tech job. I ran around the campus fixing computer and networking problems all day, everyday.

2016

After nine years together, I married my best friend on Halloween night. We also got our first house that year, right on the Conodoguinet Creek. We always had to worry about flooding.

2018

After many years learning to code, I changed professions and became a web developer for Dickinson College. This is where I first learned (a lot) about web accessibility. I really enjoyed working there.

2020

Joined the Ritter Insurance Marketing development team as a UX/UI Developer. First time working with a team, everyone was very welcoming.

2021

Helped the Frontend Horse community put on a holiday-themed charity livestream. We raised $10,000 to help clean litter from the ocean.

2022

Helped put on that charity livestream, again. This time though we raised $18,000 for Doctors without Borders.

2023

Traveled a lot. Visited London at the beginning of the year. My work team went to New Orleans for Vue Conf. I also went to Amsterdam for CSS Day. This year was crazy.

2024

Writing and blogging a lot. I have a weekly routine of posting interesting links called the Weekly Roundup. Became a staff writer for CSS-Tricks!
