More placecards, white on grey. Makes a lovely understated look for a dinner event.
Two gold script placecards, with extra flourishes.
I found this article in the Penman’s Art Journal, September 1886 where Professor Toland was smack-talking oblique holders. Boy, you can see him laying it on!
And then three months later Mr. Russell had to bring him down a peg or two.
I enjoy reading these old journals and finding little gems like this from time to time.
This was from the Penman’s Art Journal, June 1886.
Even back then people were lamenting the decline of good penmanship.
Some simple envelopes written on a small envelope. I had to squeeze in some addresses at times, but I think it still looks okay.
My very first envelope sent to my new residence.. to test the post there. I felt a tinge of excitement as I wrote the address of my first home in calligraphy for the first time. I am in the middle of renovating and decorating at the moment, but very soon I can share pictures of my new studio :)
PS: This address has been modified.. don’t worry my penpallers, I will send you the real address as soon as I can confirm the post here is successful.
A quirky fun envelope design :) I love making these.
Here is my latest haul from paperinkarts, full of stuff I ‘need’ :) Originally I just needed another bottle of gold ink, but somehow or other all these other stuff just jumped into cart..
First off, I needed an hourglass adjustible oblique holder. This holder is set in a way where it will take all sizes of nibs, even a crow quill or Brause 66 nib. I also got some more Brause 66 and Rose nibs, and some of my favorite Leonardt Principal nibs.
Then a Copperplate gold ink and another white iridescent gold. And all of a sudden two dinky dips sets. And finally, another bottle of McCaffery’s Red-Violet ink.
Addressing an envelope using a Leonardt Principal nib and Dr. Martin’s bleedproof white.
huyhoangdao asked: Hi, I really love your calligraphy writing. Which school are you studying? I am finding a school to learn graphic design, and calligraphy professionally as well. :)
I graduated from Ringling some years ago and majored in illustration. I did not take any calligraphy courses there though, as I wasn’t interested in it then. They have a pretty good graphic design department.
A new illustrated envelope style.
salywells-deactivated20130730 asked: Where did you learn to do such fantastic things? Recommend a book or manual?
Instant pen wizard!
Cute little notes to brighten up a wedding.
My new zanerian holder. I like how balanced it is. This is fitted to a Nikko G.
Oooh! Can I ask: where did you get an oblique holder? Is it online? I can’t find anywhere that sells them in my home city, so I hope you can help!
Also, that is some lovely spencerian there!
Yes, you can find it online here.
That is where I bought it. You can also find more oblique holders at Paperinkarts.
Please feel free to ask me anything as well.
