Hovhannes

Hi. If you are learning about Armenian topics you might want to consider the Armenian-American composer Alan Hovhanness. Many of his symphonies involve Armenian themes.
(Some of my relatives are Armenian-Canadian.) Varlaam (talk) 19:37, 21 November 2012 (UTC)[replie]

Hi, I asked him to raise "Arcos" (and any others) with you.
Arcos is your baby. You decide.

Nos. 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, and 10 are obviously okay. 100% okay.
9 connects an editor to his (inactive) bot. That's totally normal throughout WP. In our case, it was probably created by somebody at the WMF based on a request. We get that sort of nonsense all the time; editors who never participate in our project. The vast majority of our "editors" are bogus.
So, our only genuine issue is 1.
Correct or delete, as you see fit.
Merry Christmas.

To our new contributor, other than Arcos, your issue is based on a misunderstanding of how scowiki works.
The way for you to correct this "problem" is to begin with the enwiki article on the shipbuilders en:Harland and Wolff and translate it. Issue resolved.
Merry Christmas to you as well. Back to wrapping presents for the kids ... [User:Varlaam unsigned]

  • No, actually NONE of these are "okay". These are all broken redirects that clicking will land you onto redlinks, and they all need to be either repointed to a valid destination, or else deleted from this wiki. This is a WMF project, not your personal sandbox. Your response that *I* need to rewrite something from English wikipedia before these broken redirects can be removed, is quite frankly bizarre and not just a little concerning. 71.127.139.4 18:02, 27 Dizember 2012 (UTC)
  • Note also that we are discussing this here because User:Varlaam directed me to raise this with the creator of Arcos de Canasi, whom he assured me was the "most important editor" on the Scots wiki (see his talkpage #"Broken Reguidals"). 71.127.139.4 18:13, 27 Dizember 2012 (UTC)
"I [Varlaam] asked him [71] to raise "Arcos" with you [66]."
66 has not responded. That is me, Varlaam, the scowiki manager, speaking.
Who are you to be so concerned about a project you have nothing to do with?
You are an IP user. And it's Christmas time. Why am I spending my Boxing Days dealing with these trivialities?
You stated your point of view. Fine. That matter has been settled. 66 is free to deal with Arcos, when he is not busy doing something that matters to anyone who contributes here.
Do not import your attitude from enwiki and wave it in our faces.
I am also a Master Editor at enwiki in my spare time.
Happy Boxing Day, Varlaam (talk) 18:51, 27 Dizember 2012 (UTC)
I created Franco-Provençal leid to try to start to resolve this dispute. Varlaam is right in that it is settled, but why not just create articles instead of complaining about redirects? :) Also, Varlaam, I think we don't need to have these redirects (with the exception of the Crochet.david one). Merry Christmas! :) PiRSquared17 (talk) 19:38, 27 Dizember 2012 (UTC)
Absolutely we need these redirects. They define what the articles will be called when they exist.
We don't need someone creating "Royal" Canadian Air Force and someone else having to clean up the resulting mess.
We don't have the labour force to keep doing the same thing over and over.
It took this project 7 years to produce a 1-sentence Sean Connery article.
The RAF redirect is fine for eternity. All that's lacking is the article.
