Kids have ALWAYS liked stupid ass mindless shit because it's FUN and so completely non serious, as stupid as you think the stuff they like is, they're having FUN and It pisses me off when people start shaming kids for what they like because they're acting like it's so much for serious than it is. That is EXACTLY what every generation does, you are not the exception

"x ship is normalizing incest-"

Buddy

If game of thrones hasn't normalized incest by now (pulling over 10 million views in the 7th season alone) then a small fandom ship most certainly won't

lentilswitheverything

Spn ran for fifteen fucking seasons, it ran for over a decade, and wincest was consistently one of the two or three most popular ships. And it had no measurable impact on real world abuse. Maybe you think fandom is uniquely dangerous (why, idk, but this tumblr after all) but a pretty good rule of fandom is that if Spn couldn't do it, fucking no one else is going to manage it.

Just thinking about how Usopp, who probably already looks up to Franky in the early days after Water 7, starts admiring him more once they start sailing together because of how openly emotional he is.

Usopp’s always been a little embarrassed by how easily he cries and he thought it made him less manly, less brave. The people on Syrup always told him to stop crying and man up! But seeing Franky—tall, strong, courageous, undoubtedly manly Franky—bawl at the drop of a hat changes something for Usopp.

He offhandedly (not offhand, he spent days working himself up to this) asks Franky about it one day. How he allows himself to cry so unabashedly without thinking less of himself.

Franky tells Usopp how he wouldn’t let himself cry when he was younger. That he wanted to prove to everyone, including himself, that he was unaffected by the events in his life. Franky tells Usopp that punishing himself for having emotions never worked and only ever caused him to lash out and become overwhelmed.

He tells Usopp that he learned not to let his emotions or his way of expressing them get in the way of how he perceives himself. That his emotions live alongside every other part of him. He’s a cyborg, a shipwright, a badass inventor, and a crybaby. Doesn’t make him less or more of a man, it just makes him Franky.

Hearing this and feeling extremely validated as a result predictably makes Usopp burst into tears. It's still embarrassing to be a crybaby but he's no longer ashamed by it. He lets himself feel his emotions as they come and realizes he is all the better for it.

LGBT people, I need you to know that any “pedophile execution bill” passed in the US is meant to put you, personally, to death. When the right says “groomer,” they’re talking about you. When they say “predator,” they’re talking about you. When they say “pedophile,” they’re talking about you. Any actual child sex abusers who are convicted and executed would be, to them, a happy accident, a cherry on top of a law that’s meant to exterminate anyone who deviates from the cisgender, heterosexual norm.

"but they can't possibly think we're all really child molesters"

if you haven't already figured out that facts don't matter to these people I don't know what to tell you
