The earlier posting reminded me of the boots I once made for Pullip. Pullips are approximately Barbie-sized, but they have a huge head and small feet. Fortunately, there is a joint in the ankle, so flat soles are fine. Heels would be a bit too much in this scale. Also, the doll's proportions are so unrealistic anyway that it does not matter, if the shoes have a bit strange proportions or scale. These boots are made of leather and the insole is cardboard. Usually I cover the insole with…

Here's my pattern for doll shoes. This is a pattern for a basic flat (no-heel) shoe, which fits a number of flat-footed dolls like Momoko Doll from Sekiguchi company (Japan), Liv Dolls by Spin Master, Mattel's Skipper, and the new Tall Barbie from Mattel. I've been very happy with how this shoe turned out, and

My main problem with modeling clay is that I cannot make two identical pieces without a pattern or mold. So, I have solved the problem of making heels by using a cardboard mold. This time I was making heels for 16" Miss Piggy's shoes. The photo below shows the cardboard insole with an empty mold for the heel. The hardest part is making the pattern for the mold. You can see the basic form below, but it is very much trial and error. Once you've got the pattern right, draw the required number…

I have a lot of unfinished projects, which may or may not get finished one day. This one was from 2010 and the shoes were only missing the heels. The first three photos are from 2010 and the rest were taken today. The straps are connected together by a short piece of ribbon underneath, which ensures that the decorations remain in correct positions in relation to each other. The insoles are covered with pieces of fabric. Here are the soles with straps in place. The heels are made of polymer…

These shoes are made with similar resin soles as the red stiletto heels. The previous post shows the painting stage. I wanted different heels for these, but ended up using the same structure underneath. I don't remember what kind of glue I used for the red pair, but this time I used hot glue to secure the wooden sticks in place. I painted the heels black, and while the paint was drying, I thought about different ways of using the plastic material also in the heels in addition to using it for…

I haven't made shoes for Barbie (except for California Girl Barbie), because her feet are so small, but I decided to try and see how hard it really is. I eliminated some steps from the process of making larger shoes, so these shoes don't have leather insoles, just three layers of cardboard glued in shape. The ribbon I used was the narrowest one from a set that had four different kinds of black and white ribbons. I was making the shoes using the plaster castings for Silkstone Barbie feet, so…
