My dad isn’t one of those parents that is like you’re gonna be rich and you’re gonna be a doctor or whatever. He only has three conditions. 1. Don’t get involved in organized crime 2. Don’t join the military and 3. Don’t drive a motorcycle

Problem is though. Motorcycles look so fun.

So in the US they say there’s a 1% chance of getting in a motorcycle accident. That’s just per year though. If you stretch that over 20 years that gets up to like 18.3% which is a much higher gamble when you think about it. And motorcyclists make up 15% of fatal accidents while only representing 6% of vehicles.

They look so fun though.

He's riding the bow wave! The boat, moving forward, also pushes quite a bit of water forward. The dolphin is letting the boat push him with the water, to save on the effort of swimming. It's like birds that fly in a V formation to take advantage of the wings of the bird ahead of them.

That dolphin is having such a good day that I stop and watch him every time this comes around. Imagine how it must feel, basking in the rush of water, effortlessly carried forward.

I know that realistically you can only fit so many movies into a list of approximately 100, but I cannot take that "How many of tumblr's favorite movies have you seen?" list that's been going around seriously because there are some truly egregious omissions.

Some of it is very clearly recency bias, which makes me wonder if the op truly wasn't on here in 2013 or so, but you're telling me you made a list of "tumblr's favorite movies" that doesn't include Pacific Rim or Mad Max: Fury Road? Because, like, I was there, Gandalf.

I'm a ridiculous human and genuinely couldn't sleep until I tried my hand at a better, more balanced list -- though of course, I have my own biases when it comes to what corners of this website I've lurked in over the years. For what it's worth, I did consult the last several Years In Review, while also drawing on the fact that I've been here for over a decade. But if there's anything that truly doesn't feel like it should have made the cut, blame my mutuals for putting it on my dash all the time.

Terrible news! I’m not eligible for Quebec provincial insurance under any circumstances. I’m still covered under Alberta insurance but because I’ve moved out of province I’ll only be covered until September, on top of being stuck with phone appointments

I’m still going to stick around in the short term to work since I need the money irrespective of circumstances and it’ll provide a cushion whilst I’m here. I really don’t fancy moving again though since it’s time and money wasted just to start all over again in a new place. What a headache

me and coworker: okay. we're getting rid of a ton of old records. they're sorted into price piles, you just need to write down the price and stick them to the record sleeve. if it doesn't have a sleeve, do not stick it to the vinyl bit, because the adhesive gunks up the grooves and affects how they play. okay?
