Leaf Embroidery - Day 17 - Feather stitch leaf

 Hi all

Hope all are doing well and good.  Today I am happy to share with you the next stitch to embroider leaves.  It is the simple feather stitch. This stitch can also be used with knot stitches to create borders, necklines etc.  But for leaves it works up quickly to fill the shape of a leaf. The stitch itself beautifully forms the center vein of the leaf .  At the end finish it with a long anchoring stitch.

Hope you all find this tutorial useful.  See you with a WIP project next.  Till then, have a nice day and happy embroidering.

Leaf Embroidery - Day 16 - Straight stitch leaf

 Hi all

Hope all are doing well and good.  The next stitch that I used to embroider a leaf is the simple straight stitch. Start with a straight stitch from top centre to the bottom centre, and continue with the shape of the leaf in both the sides.  The bottom point should be the same.  It will give a fan like leaf structure.  Very simple and easy to do.

Find the video tutorial below

Hope you all find this tutorial useful.  See you all with a next stitch.  Till then have a nice day.

MCP Update and a new start

 Hi all

Hope all are doing well and good.  In 2015 I have started a mega cross stitch project named "Harmony".  You can see it here.  It went on slow and steady.  But after starting my youtube channel that project has been left unattended.  And in December 2020 I have showed the last progress.  you can view it here.  After that I was stitching now and then and completed 4 to 5 pages which I haven't recorded the progress.  Again this year I have decided to complete my long time WIP's and this is the one which I have decided to finish first.  So spending maximum time for this and made a decent progress till now.  You can see how much I have progressed from 2021 to till date from the below pictures.  Still 20% of the stitches is remaining.  Hoping to complete it soon.

After

Before

Also I have started a new crochet project using a simple square.

Pattern used is SmoothFox's May flower - Square.  You can find the free pattern here.

For me the square is 5".  The yarn I am using is Olivia Double knit yarn from Ganga Acrowools.  I am using 4mm hook.  And I am planning to crochet 15 of these to make a 16" cushion cover.  Will keep updating the progress.

Hope you all like these projects.  See you soon with another interesting post.  Till then, have a nice day and have a happy time with your needle and thread.

Raised Lazy daisy flower tutorial

 Hi all

Hope all are doing well and good.  One of the easiest stitch to embroider a flower is lazy daisy stitch.  It is a flat stitch.  Today We are going to see the tutorial for raising the lazy daisy flower.  Very easy to do.

Video Tutorial below

To get a more raised look, you can use yarn instead of embroidery thread for the base i.e) stem stitch rounds.  In place of stem stitch you can also use split stitches.  This flower looks more elegant when worked as buttas all over the saree pallu.  Do give a try.

See you with another design.  Till then have a happy time with your needle and thread.

Leaf Embroidery - Day 5 - Herringbone stitch leaf

 Hi all

Welcome to Day 5 of our Leaf Embroidery series! Today, we're diving into the Herringbone stitch, a versatile and decorative stitch that adds texture and dimension to your leaf embroidery projects. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced embroiderer, the Herringbone stitch is a fantastic addition to your stitching repertoire.

The Herringbone stitch, also known as the plaited stitch, is characterized by its unique interlaced pattern. It creates a series of diagonal lines that intersect, forming a herringbone-like pattern. This stitch is not only aesthetically pleasing but also adds a lovely texture to your embroidery.

video tutorial👇👇👇

Tips for Perfecting Your Herringbone Stitch

  • Practice on Scrap Fabric: If you're new to the Herringbone stitch, practice on a piece of scrap fabric before working on your final piece.
  • Maintain Tension: Keep your stitches snug but not too tight to avoid puckering the fabric.
  • Experiment with Floss Colors: Try using different shades of green or even variegated floss to add depth and interest to your leaf.

The Herringbone stitch is a beautiful way to add texture and interest to your leaf embroidery. Its crisscrossing pattern mimics the natural veins of a leaf, making it an ideal choice for a project. Remember, practice makes perfect, so don't be discouraged if your first few attempts aren't flawless. With time and patience, you'll master this stitch and create stunning leaf embroidery pieces.

Happy Embroidering.

Feel free to share your progress and finished pieces with us. I love seeing your creations and the unique twists you bring to each project. Stay tuned for more embroidery tutorials and tips in my Leaf Embroidery series!
