F.A.Q.

What are the dimensions/contents of the book?

The zine is A5 size and perfect bound - 112 pages cover to cover, with 94 pages of art. It’s fairly thick and weighs 250g!

The book is full of standalone illustrations featuring our favourite fictional siblings from across all genres, time periods and media. Each artist has contributed one piece.

When will pre-orders open?

Pre-orders are now closed. You can still buy the book from the store (link above) as we ordered some extra copies, but they’re limited!

Is the zine SFW?

All artists have been required to keep their drawings PG-13. There is some mild blood, language and depictions of smoking but strictly no excessive gore, nudity, sexual content etc.

If you are concerned, please email us before you purchase.

Can I buy Volume 1?

Physical copies of Volume 1 have long sold out and we will not be reprinting them. Your best bet is to scour the stores of any participating artists to see if they are selling any wholesale copies they bought.

If you would like to purchase a PDF copy of Vol 1 for $6, please email us at dreamsoflemons@gmail.com and we will work something out!

Are you planning to ship worldwide?

Yes! If you are concerned about the reliability of standard mail, we’ll do our best to provide a tracked courier option.

Are X artists or X characters in this?

A full list of artists featured in Volume 2 and links to their sites can be found here.
As for whether certain characters are featured… please look out for the previews! No repeats were allowed, so Volume 2 does not contain any characters from Volume 1.

About 40% of the content in Volume 2 is anime/manga, the rest are split between books, TV, films, games etc. Some popular fandoms included are: MP100, LoZ, Supernatural, Stranger Things, Free!, Harry Potter, VLD, Overwatch, Fire Emblem, AA, to name a few.

EDIT: due to popular request, a full list of Vol. 2’s source material content can be found here.

Will there be digital orders?

Yep. Check the store. There is a reduced resolution PDF available for sale.

Where are the profits going?

This is a non-profit zine, so all revenue goes towards production costs or paying the curators for the commission tiers. All guest artists are compensated with a free copy of the book, plus extra gifts/merch from the curators and the opportunity to buy wholesale copies for their own stores/conventions.

Depending on how much we make, any excess profits will either be split among our guests, donated to charity or put towards another zine project. All artists will be informed of where the money is going.

EDIT: After wrapping up this project we decided after putting aside a small cut for future projects/spare funds for missing orders, the excess would be donated to Refugee Action. A PayPal receipt is posted on our Twitter account.

Can I join?

Both volumes of the zine were invite-only. As much as we would have loved to do open submission and take on more artists, our own busy life schedules would not have allowed us the time needed to fairly evaluate submissions. However, we may run more zines in future and do try to signal boost any other projects involving our artist roster, so keep an eye out!

What are you using to print the books?

Printed.com, a local UK-based company. We’ve used them for previous zine projects and our own merchandise, and can definitely vouch for good quality and customer service.

If you are interested in using our print services, you can send us your name/email address and we’ll be able to give you a 20% discount code.

Will there be a Vol. 3? Will you be taking artist applications for it? How do I apply?

As much as we appreciate all the love and interest in this project, please do not ask us about future volumes for the meantime! We have not planned one, so your guess is as good as ours, and we wouldn’t be able to give you a definite answer.

All we can say is, if anything does happen, it will be announced on this blog. For the meantime, we fully encourage you to apply to other projects or even create your own book.

Who is running this?

Andy: I just graduated university and have been drawing since forever. This is my 3rd zine as a curator and well over my 20th as a participating artist. I tend to get into new series by accident, and my favourite things include anime, fine arts, fashion, cartoons and eating carbohydrates.

Laura: I graduated university in 2016 and I’m now working as a junior 3D animator. This is my first time curating but I’ve been a guest artist in 5 zines previously, including Siblings: Volume 1! Besides illustrating/animating, my favourite past-times are rock climbing, playing video games, inhaling chocolate and ranting about animated ninjas at 3am.

Between the two of us we’ve got extensive experience with the curating/editing process and shipping/handling orders. We’re therefore pretty confident we can deliver everything in a timely and trustworthy manner to you guys.

Feel free to reach out to either of us personally on our art blogs (andythelemon/luaru) or Twitters (@andythelemon_/@luaruu) if you have any questions, comments or concerns - or you’d just like to say hi!

If you have any other queries, send us a message and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can. Thank you!
