kids interaction pack + homework override

this mod adds four new interactions between a child and an adult, featuring custom animations blended from various in-game clips.

base game compatible
requires the xml injector

1. go over schoolwork / ask to go over schoolwork

actors: both child and adult
category: friendly interactions
requirements:
– the actor must be sitting on a couch! (similar to the “cuddle” interaction)
– the adult must be a family member or a good friend of the child

effects:
– improves school performance
– increases parenting skill for the adult
– increases the child’s mental and social skills
– increases responsibility for the child

2. check homework / get help checking homework

actor: both child and adult
category: friendly interactions
requirements:
– the child must have 100% completed their homework
– the adult must be a family member or a good friend of the child

effects:
– increases parenting skill for the adult
– increases mental for the child
– increases responsibility for the child

3. complain about feeling bad

actor: child only
category: complaints under friendly interactions
requirements:
– only if the child is uncomfortable or has illness-related buffs from get to work
– the adult must be a family member or a good friend of the child

effects:
– slightly boosts all of the child’s needs
– if the child has an illness buff from get to work, the interaction works similarly to taking medicine

4. beg for a day off school

actor: child only
category: complaints under friendly interactions
requirements:
– only if the child is uncomfortable, stressed or sad
– the adult must be a parent, grandparent, or legal guardian

effects:
– gives the child a one-day sick day
– the child may lose some school performance

known issue:
the “go over schoolwork” interaction may glitch slightly when starting or exiting. unfortunately, it’s based on the “cuddle” interaction, which has built-in issues i haven’t been able to fix :(

i’m so sorry for being away for so long. i’ve actually been working on mods almost every day, but kept running into problems that forced me to scrap everything and start over. it’s been a really frustrating experience — but i’m so happy i finally get to share this one with you 💛

the mod has two download options:

• v1: the first version uses the default ea homework design;
• v2: the second version uses books with my custom homework texture (you can also download the homework override separately). i took the university notebook texture, modified it, and added some fun stickers.

lap reading for infants & reading while infants nap on laps

this mod adds two new interactions with infants:

• sim reads a book to an infant sitting on their lap;
• sim reads books and boosts skills while an infant naps on their lap.

here’s a look at the full animations:

male sims have the same animation, with a slight adjustment in leg position.
both actions require a nearby couch, bench or living chair. 
I didn’t make the page-turning animation. i hope you don’t mind — it would have made the process 10 times harder…

the books appear automatically.
this is what a children’s book looks like inside:

lap reading

to start “lap reading”, go to the “friendly…” -> “activities”.

after the activity, both the adult and the baby gains increases in their “social” and “fun” stats, plus the following buffs:

reading while infants nap on laps

for this interaction, head over to the “baby care” menu -> “give baby a nap while reading…”. you’ll find several options here.

the “give a nap while reading fiction book” option only adds ’fun’. the other options add a smaller ’fun’, but they help develop various skills (skills are only from the base game). the baby gains increases in “social” and “energy” stats.

after the action, both the adult and the child receive the following buffs:

note that if an infant has the ’hates being carried’ trait, they will not receive the buff. similarly, an adult sim with the ’hates children’ trait will not receive the buff.

i tried to make the action work for toddlers too, but i haven’t figured out how yet. these interactions, like my previous mod “take a nap with infant”, are based on the “give infant a nap” action. adapting them for toddlers requires deeper modding knowledge. i hope that either i or someone else in the modding community will figure out how to make it work in the future.

functional pacifier 2.0

new features in new version:

• three new pacifiers are now available in three different colors. you can check out all new pacifiers in the video thumbnail of this post.

all pacifiers work for both infants and toddlers. i used the texture slot for glasses, so unfortunately, it’s not possible to use glasses and a pacifier at the same time. however, you can now wear the pacifier together with onesies, which wasn’t possible in the first version.

• pacifiers will automatically disappear during meals and baths. 

• adult sims can now give pacifiers to children. after this interaction, the child will immediately start wearing the pacifier. for this, i used the in-game “check infant/toddler” animation, so there’s no custom animation. please note that the “give pacifier” action won’t show up if the sim is carrying the baby.

• you can get pacifiers by purchasing them through the computer.

• you can remove the pacifier by clicking either on the pacifier itself or directly on the sim.

phone call animations override

this mod replaces the animations for phone calls, adding four new poses, with different ones for each gender.

age groups: teenagers to elders.

included poses:

• sitting on dining or desk chairs

• sitting on sofas or living chairs

animations on all other surfaces will remain as they are.

all transitions are smooth! you might notice slight clipping at the start or end of the animations, but it shouldn’t affect gameplay.

also you should know:

• if your sim is pregnant, the animation might not look good with the belly. unfortunately, i don’t know how to fix it in this mod, but i hope it won’t bother you too much.
• i did not modify the animation for “video calls”.
• if you have the “cupid’s heart” expansion pack, the “flirt” action on the phone will also use the new poses.

p.s. i made this override as an addition to my previous mod, “extended phone calls”, after my sims started calling everyone 24/7, i thought they should do it in a cuter way! :)

this mod adds over 500 notifications and 30 buffs to phone calls based on sims’ relationships and age.

you call your friend:

 you call your sibling:

you call your wife/husband:

you call your girlfriend/boyfriend:

you call your parents:

there’s a small chance of having an unpleasant conversation. this chance increases if you’re talking to someone with traits like mean, hotheaded, or bully.

notifications are also distributed by age. children will receive unique notifications, and other sims will get specific notifications when calling children. there are also specific teenage notifications about admissions.

unique flirt notifications are also available if you own the “cupid’s heart” expansion pack. through the “flirt” action on the phone, you can flirt with people outside of a relationship and receive new notifications and buffs.

there’s a chance the person will tell you they don’t want anything serious. this chance increases if the character has the noncommittal trait.

at night, long calls are possible only with partners. from 00:00 to 06:00, specific late-night notifications apply, with unique ones for parents and grandparents.

• changed phone interactions include: “chat with…”, “video call…”, “chatty a family call with…”, “flirt with…”
• changes to the relationship panel interactions are: “chat”, “chatty a family call”, “flirt”.

notifications and buffs are also added to incoming calls.

the mod will conflict with other mods that change calls in the game. for example, such as scumbumbo’s call anytime.
it is compatible with mods that add custom incoming calls or texts, such as ‘connected sims’ by adeepindigo, 'randomtexts’ by kuttoe, and 'more send text variety’ by tyjokr.

take a nap with infant

this mod allows your sim to take a nap while hugging the infant.

requires the growing together expansion pack and the xml injector

a new action, “take a nap with baby,” is available in the “baby care” category.

to use this action, have a sofa or living chair nearby. when you click on the action, the sim will automatically go to the appropriate object to start the nap.

here’s what the full animation looks like:

please note, there may be a small clipping issue at the beginning and end of the animation.

male sims have the same animation, with a slight adjustment in leg position.

buffs:

if an infant has the “hates being carried” trait, they will not receive the buff. similarly, an adult sim with the “hates children” trait will not receive the buff.

new music listening interactions

this mod adds two new interactions for your sims when listening to music: calm listening and melancholic listening. includes custom animations tailored for both men and women.

base game compatible

actions are added to stereos and headphones.

1. at first you need to turn on your music system, choosing your music type
2. and then selecting either “calm listening” or “melancholic listening”.

autonomy is enabled, which means sims will sometimes perform actions independently.

transitions are smooth.

 calm listening:

• requires a living chair, sofa or bench nearby.
• helps reduce negative emotions.
• adds the following moodlet (2 hours):

melancholic listening:

• requires a bed, living chair, sofa or bench nearby.
