General elections in India are being held from 19 April 2024 to 1 June 2024 to elect 543 members for the 18th Lok Sabha. The elections are being held in seven phases and the results will be announced on 4 June 2024. The current Prime Minister of India is Narendra Modi of the Bharatiya Janata Party.[1] On 7 June 2024, Modi confirmed the support of 293 MPs to Droupadi Murmu, the President of India.[2] This marked Modi's third term as Prime Minister and his first time heading a coalition government,[3] with the Telugu Desam Party of Andhra Pradesh and Janata Dal (United) of Bihar emerging as two main allies.[4][5][6]
