Astrud Gilberto (Portuguese pronunciation: [aʃˈtɾud ʒiwˈbɛʁtu]; born Astrud Evangelina Weinert; March 29, 1940 – June 5, 2023) was a Brazilian samba and bossa nova singer-songwriter. She became very popular in the 1960s because of her song "The Girl from Ipanema".[1]

Gilberto died at her home in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on June 5, 2023 at the age of 83.[2][3][4]
