Kamila Olmerová (born 16 June 1907) was a Czechoslovak track and field athlete and handball player.[2] She was active during the 1920s, the early era of women's athletics. She was a world record holder in the javelin throw and 75 metres relay and also European record holder in the javelin throw.[3]
Biography
[change | change source]Olmerová started playing handball in 1921 and was very talented.[3]
Olmerová represented Czechoslovakia at the first 1922 Women's World Games in Paris, France.[3] She would later also compete at other Women's World Games and Women's Olympiads,[3] including at the 1926 Women's World Games.[4]
In the javelin throw she set her first world record on 31 May 1923 in Hradec Králové with a distance of 26.10 metres. On 2 September the same year she improved again the world record to 27.30 metres in Kladno.[2] On 12 July 1925, she set the world record in the 4 x 75 meters relay for the national team in Ljubljana together with Miloslava Havlíčková, Mária Vidláková and Zdena Smolová.[5] In 1926 she broke in the European record in the javelin throw in Brno with a distance of 34.85 metres.[2]
