I started sanding and realized it wasn't real wood when I burned right through to the MDF. I was able to fix it with a dark gel stain but I always wished I could somehow make it lighter. - Clean all surfaces to be covered with liquid wood. No sanding needed. Remove drawers and cabinets as well as hardware. Tape off walls and floors.
- Apply liquid wood to all surfaces with a foam brush in long even strokes. I used Retique It Light Wood Color. Paint two coats. Wait two hours in between coats.
- Apply stain of choice. Allow it to sit on the surface for about two minutes before wiping it off with long even strokes.
