Samhain festival

Samhain is a pagan religious festival originating from an ancient Celtic spiritual tradition. In modern times, Samhain (a Gaelic word pronounced “sow‑win”) is usually celebrated from October 31 to November 1 to welcome in the harvest and usher in “the dark half of the year.”

The Celtic festival of Samhain, which was later adopted by Christians and became Halloween, is a very important date in the Pagan calendar as it marks the division of the year between the lighter half (summer) and the darker half (winter). Pagans believed that at Samhain the division between this world and the otherworld was at its thinnest, allowing spirits to pass through.

Long before we stuffed ourselves with candy and donned Halloween costumes, the Celtic people celebrated an ancient harvest festival called Samhain.
