"No taxation without representation!" was a slogan used to show the colonists opposition to the unfair taxes that were imposed by Britain. Colonists believed that if they were to be taxed they should have some influence in Parliament by actual people from the american colonies. Britain believed that virtual representation was better due to the delays caused by travels actual representatives from the colonies like Virginia.

Sugar Act: The Sugar Act was passed on April 5th, 1764. The Sugar Act, also known as The American Revenue Act, was passed by the Parliament. The goal for the Sugar Act was to pay back the money lost within the war, by paying taxes on sugar. It was also an follow up of the Molasses Act of 1763. This was the first tax the colonists paid to repay the money from the French and Indian War.

Sugar Act: 1764 act that put a three cent tax on foreign refined sugar and increased taxes on coffee, indigo, and certain kinds of wine. It banned importation of rum and French wines. These taxes affected only a certain part of the population, but the affected merchants were very vocal. The taxes were raised without the consent of the colonists. This was one of the first instances in which colonists wanted a say in how much they were taxed

The Tea Act was set in 1773 by Great Britain's Parliament. Since tea was being so heavily boycotted among the colonies, the Tea Act was needed in order for the tea company not to fail. The Tea Act gave the East India Company the right to sell tea among the colonies to reduce the large amount of tea they obtained. This would help the tea company become financially stronger and prosper. This act led to one of the most memorable causes of the Revolution: NO TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION.
