Until now, the villains have always been over there. The Dark Kingdom and the Black Moon worked out of distant bases. Their most long-term infiltration plots were always detected before they could come to fruition. Even their most subtle attacks were still attacks from the outside. The kidnapping and changing of Chibi Usa was quick and direct.
But Hotaru has lived with this evil for most of her life. It lives in her house. It’s part of her daily existence. It’s part of what she thinks is her family.
Demando was creepy because he tried to imprison Usagi in that intimacy. Professor Tomoe doesn’t have to try. Hotaru is already trapped there.
Saphir really went too far there.
