I'm relistening to Old Gods of Appalachia and I realized something I hadn't thought of before. In Episode 0.5, Horned Head says Daughter Dooley has "kinship with this land." I always thought that just referred to how she shepherds it and lives off it and nourishes it.

BUT I just realized today that parts of Ireland used to be part of the same mountain range as the Appalachians. So there's also a kinship there. I'm only just now entering the Old Gods online discourse so no idea if this has been brought up before.

Censorship will not solve a single problem. Putting ban and restrictions on AO3 will drive creators away. You won’t be making your platform look appealing to outsiders. You’re destroying your own platform by driving the majority of your creators away.

The exact same thing happened to fanfiction.net and Tumblr. So many people quit. AO3 is one of the very few platforms creators have.

Censorship does not solve any problem. It does harm to creators.

Anonymous asked:

Prompt: you and your best friend are now employees of S.H.I.E.L.D. (in whatever capacity/position you want)and are meeting the Avengers team for the first time. How do the introductions go?

wonderlandleighleigh answered:

(Not so much SHIELD. Close, though. Written for @songofthephoenix ‘s amusment)

“…Your new UN reps,” Secretary Ross says, looking incredibly unhappy. “Miss Kaelyn Rose and Miss Jenna Weiss.”

Jenna smiles politely at the assembled group of heroes. They look wary. Not at all like they’re okay with the UN breathing down their nose, but they have no choice. If they want any amount of autonomy from the UN, they have to play ball a little.

Meaning letting two of the UN’s brightest advise on missions.

“Very nice to meet both of you,” Tony Stark says, shaking their hands, each in turn. “Good to have you on board. Why don’t we start with a tour of the compound, and then we can talk business. And lunch. I’ve had it catered. I took the liberty of looking up your allergies, so I know that Miss Rose can’t do mushrooms, and Miss Weiss can’t handle pineapple.”

Jenna smiles politely again, and nods. “Thank you.” A quick glance at Kaelyn, who is watching Stark with a thin, red eyebrow lifted high up, and she knows exactly what her best friend is thinking.

“Follow me.”

They do, and Jenna steers closer to Kaelyn. “Stop that.”

“I’m just saying. Stark talks too much. I should have brought the ball gag,” Kaelyn whispers. “I’ve heard stories, he’d probably like it.”

“We’re working,” Jenna reminds her.

Kaelyn smirks. “Work hard, play hard. Stop acting like you’re not wondering how soft Captain America’s bed sheets are.”

Jenna huffs, but doesn’t respond, because Kaelyn is absolutely right.

So let me be very clear: I don’t care if this gets undone next year, next month, next week. I know it’s clickbait disguised as storytelling. I am not angry because omg how dare you ruin Steve Rogers forever.

I am angry because how dare you use eleven million deaths as clickbait.

I am angry because Steve Rogers’s Jewish creators literally fought in a war against the organization Marvel has made him a part of to grab headlines.

I am angry because the very real pain of the Jewish community has been dismissed since this news leaked on Tuesday night as “Twitter outrage.”

How little must we matter. The people who created Captain America, and Superman, and countless other heroes like them. The people who need him. The people whose history and suffering and hope, as we stood on the brink of annihilation, gave you your weekly entertainment and your fun thought experiment, 75 years later.

I hope it was worth it, Marvel.

She carried a special brightness and excitement inherent not to her body but to the very idea of her being; the mundane world burst at its seams, straining its dimensions, to hold the awesome beauty and grace to which she was a kind mistress.
