Muppet Fact #1415
Jim Henson thought of the idea for The Tale of the Bunny Picnic when he and his daughter Cheryl were at a park and saw “a whole big bunch of bunny rabbits… hopping out looking to all the world like they were gonna have a meeting or convention or something” who were then interrupted by a dog.

See that picture above? That’s a close up of my great grandmother’s immigration papers when she first came to the US back in the early 20th century. But my great grandma’s information isn’t the important part here. The important part is that line in the middle there about how they arrived in the country.
And how ‘stowaway’ is a legitimate, valid option to select.
So yeah. They absolutely just showed up, and that part of immigration history needs to be talked about a lot more.
REMINDER THAT TRAVEL VISAS AS WE KNOW THEM TODAY WERE INVENTED IN THE 1930S TO KEEP JEWISH REFUGEES OUT OF COUNTRIES THAT DID NOT WANT AN ‘INFLUX’ OF THEM, THEREBY FACILITATING THEIR GENOCIDE :)))))
read What is A Refugee for more history. Educate yourselves.
for the record this is also not at all what happened, if ur gonna smugly correct people at least try and be right
i have never set foot in the US in my life, i was indicted in 2021, the nofly list was leaked in 2023
Bee and Puppycat
Bee and Puppycat (Western Animation, 2013)
Explain your reasoning in the reblogs!
Scoring at an adjusted 96.4% of approximately 496 scoring votes, Bee and Puppycat LOVES women!
Do NOT give in to despair. Yes, the response isn’t always perfect. But the perfect is the enemy of the good.
People are standing up.
cis men will oftentimes go off about “the male struggle” or “men’s problems (which are worse than women’s!!)” but like literally all of the time that they complain about that, they’re literally just complaining about gender roles and gender expectations
“men have to provide for their family!!”
women can do that too
“no, it’s expected of men to financially provide for the family!!”
that is a gender expectation based upon a social construct, which originally stemmed from misogyny in the first place
“no one cares about men’s feelings and thinks they should be emotionless!”
gender expectation again. you don’t have to do this or be around people who enforce this.
“men are expected to do all the hard shit for the family, to do all the unpleasant work, do all the hard labor!”
women are capable of all that too. and like you don’t have to do that and also don’t have to be around people that force you to do that.
like for real any man who says men have it worse than women are really just mad at gender roles and gender expectations and tbh intersectional feminism would solve like the majority of their problems
like i’ve literally seen takes by “traditionalists” that are like “i want a woman who fulfills her gender roles so perfectly that it makes my gender roles (WHICH I HATE AND SUFFER FROM AND WHICH ARE KILLING ME ON THE INSIDE) easier” like bro listen to the feminists and transgenders you literally do not have to do this
i don’t care if it’s nazis, mormons, or a bunch of misguided autistic people. if anyone ever tries to tell you your soul is from another planet and you’re actually part of the class of impressive people that secretly did everything cool in the world but is now extinct and lives on through your broken genome, you RUN. YOU WILL RUN AWAY. YOU WILL SPRINT FULL SPEED AWAY FROM THAT.
grabs you by the shoulders listen. listen to my words. i understand the urge to make fanfiction about yourself and to find a reality in which you’re super awesome and great and everyone who hates you is wrong and dumb. i get it. you’re better than that. you can love yourself without putting other people down, dehumanizing and generalizing, and retaliating against your oppressors.
there’s no NPCs. there’s no aliens coming to save us. we’re not the next step in human evolution. our hyperconnected nervous systems give us terrible sensory overwhelm more often than they make us geniuses. neurotypical people are sentient, conscious, aware people who are capable of understanding you. we’re more the same than we are different. we’re more the same than we are different. we’re more the same than we are different.
Also stay away from people who say shit like “sexual attraction and romance addles the mind and makes you crazy and irrational and this is why being aro/ace makes you intellectually superior.” I’ve seen that a couple times times on this hellsite. Stay away from anyone who tries to convince you that your racial identity/cultural identity/gender identity/sexual orientation/neurodivergence/any other intrinsic quality makes you a member of some master race that is inherently superior to the other humans.
You are not immune to exceptionalist propaganda.
hello fellow non-Black tumblr users. welcome to my saw trap. if you’d like to leave, please name one (1) Black woman author who is not Maya Angelou, Toni Morrison, bell hooks, Octavia Butler, or N.K. Jemisin. bonus points if she’s published a book in the last five years.
For my own future reference, and for anyone else who wants it, a list of authors mentioned in the notes. (I cannot promise this is comprehensive, there are a lot of reblogs and I might have missed some.) I’ve included a link for each author, where possible I’ve tried to find one that leads you to their books, prioritising own websites/publishers, falling back on wikipedia otherwise.
If you find any mistakes in the links let me know and I’ll edit. This post will be in two parts, because I literally broke tumblr with how many authors there were. I think it’s about a hundred and fifty.

Luigi Mangione has been locked up since December 2024, and he’s been met with nothing but the violation of his rights every step of the way. Luigi’s right to be treated humanely is constantly violated, as is his right to the presumption of innocence and a fair trial. Evidence is not being provided to his legal team, and he’s being treated with prejudice by law enforcement.
Luigi is not a handsome face and a few jokes online. He is a real human being with real pain and real health issues. Luigi is a young man fighting for his life and the media is doing nothing but trying to sexualize him and make light of his situation.
Luigi has already lost so much to this, and although he remains resilient, it’s important to remember that his circumstances can’t possibly be good. It’s also important to remember that if they can do it to Luigi, they can do it to more people, to your loved one, to you.
So please, keep talking about Luigi. Keep standing by Luigi. Keep supporting Luigi.
Never let Luigi Mangione walk alone.
there’s this ask that’s been sitting in my inbox for months and i simply can bring myself to delete it
Congressional Republicans can end this at any time, you know. They can just do that. Stopping the tariffs wouldn’t even take that many of them, not even 10 total.
People keep saying, “How can one man have the power to do all this?????” One man doesn’t. One man is being supported in this by an entire political party, and that political party was elected to the majority in both of our houses of Congress. This isn’t one man.
This can not be real 😭
One of the straight up dumbest things a sitting President has ever done. Fully an unforced error.
10 years of this shit
I’d like to draw attention to a couple of stories where immigrants were detained by ICE–a mother and her 3 children in New York and a couple who owned a kebab shop in New Jersey–but in both cases, they were released after outrage from their respective communities. The superintendent of the children’s school was “leading efforts to ensure the family’s release” in the NY case, and Haddon Township residents donated over $300,000 to the NJ couple’s GoFundMe for their legal fees.
This is why it matters for communities to support its members and speak out against injustice. This administration will not do everything it wants as long as people keep fighting back.
