The actual date of publication is 1835 whatever the system used, the "Deutschlands Crustaceen, Myriapoden und Arachniden" issued by Koch himself or the "Faunae insectorum germanicae initia oder Deutschlands Insecten" published by Panzer, dates were checked by Sherborn (1923).
- The naming "Tetranychus urticae, Koch 1836" is used by Boudreaux & Dosse (1963), placed on the "Official Lists and Indexes of Names and Works in Zoology" (1987: 851) and is very frequent (1780 hits in pdf vs 144 hits for 1835).
- Among the synonyms is listed a tydeid mite, Tydeus viburni.
