Ooooo! I figured out that if you hit pause during a moment right after you make a choice or when there are notifications on the screen (“you made x choice, companion approves” etc), you can wait and they will eventually fade away and then you can unpause and take a cleaner screenshot.
Gleefully dropping an non-Rook version of my Shadow Dragon guy into the background of my Crow gal Rook worldstate (he’s the same dude minus the Nesuss job and therefore minus Varric and Harding; he does definitely pull a couple of similar jobs that are not *quite* enough to merit having to flee Minrathous).
please excuse me while i yell because according to the file names the pawns symbolising companions Rook places around during the Last Gambit cinematic were actually carved by Davrin…

Varric’s disgruntled “Speak for yourself” in response to Rook’s “Fought some demons, and the archon’s palace took a few shots at us. Nothing we couldn’t handle” is pretty funny.
“Dodging firebolts from a floating palace” is just one of those things Rook is used to doing.
