Blended Learning (BL) strategies play an important role in collaboration, communication skills, m... more Blended Learning (BL) strategies play an important role in collaboration, communication skills, motivation, attitudes, interaction with the subject and practical skills. However, their relationship with students' learning and self efficacy were not studied enough and this was the focus of this study. Therefore, the aim of the study was to investigate the effectiveness of blended learning strategy on enhancing students' learning and raising their self efficacy. A sample of 28 students participated in the study. They were divided randomly into two groups. One group studied through blended learning (BL) strategy and the other through regular conventional methods. Both groups were asked to respond to a self efficacy scale and take achievement test. The results indicated that students in the blended learning strategy group outscored in grades significantly their counter partners in conventional method. ABSTRACT In this paper, the prediction of electromagnetic propagation coverage of WiMAX base stat... more ABSTRACT In this paper, the prediction of electromagnetic propagation coverage of WiMAX base station over irregular terrain locations is presented. Investigation is performed for WiMAX base station in plain, heavy, and medium terrain locations at different directions surrounding the base station located in Sharm-Al-Shiekh city. Calculations are conducted employing the well-known Longley-Rice propagation model. The theoretical calculation concepts of the employed electromagnetic propagation model are discussed. The predicted coverage employing Longley-Rice model was compared to the predicted coverage employing the basic typical free space model, which accounts only for free space loss, at two different altitudes of the possible receiver, 2m, and 30m. 29km beyond LOS communication was found to be possible in directions of plain terrain as predicted by Longley-Rice model, however, many blind zones appeared inside the circle of the free space model in the directions of medium and heavy terrains. For better visual insight, results (predicted coverage) were presented over colorful Google-Maps with 90m resolution.

This paper describes a quasi-experimental research conducted on on-line instruction (OLI). It spe... more This paper describes a quasi-experimental research conducted on on-line instruction (OLI). It specifically uses WebCT (Web Course Tools) courseware package to evaluate the effectiveness of OLI at Sultan Qaboos University students' achievement and their attitudes towards it in educational technology course. The results show that there is no significant difference in the achievement of both groups (experimental and control). In addition, there is no significant difference due to gender variable. Further, the results show a significant difference due to grade point average (GPA) variable in favor of high achievers as compared to low achievers. Concerning the interaction effects, the results suggest an interaction effect between (GPA and gender) and (method and GPA) only. The results also show a positive attitude toward OLI. The researchers give some recommendations and suggestions to improve OLI environment at Sultan Qaboos University. The Effects of Using On-Line Instruction on Sultan Qaboos

University Students' Achievement and their Attitudes Towards it Introduction On-Line Instruction (OLI) becomes a useful instrument in various university disciplines. Academic content is designed and offered on-line by the means of e-mail, faculty sites, and specific software such as WebCT (Web Course Tools). The latter, for example, is a courseware package originally developed to manage on-line course provision. It has been described as "one of a new generation of software that provides easier solutions to problems encountered in using the Internet" (Agarwal & Day, 1998a). Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), in its endeavor to improve teaching/learning methods, provides faculty members with the opportunity to use this package. This method is combined with face-to-face teaching. Therefore, conventional class sessions remain essential part of teaching. This experimental study evaluates the effectiveness of OLI on students' achievement and their attitudes towards it in educational technology course. The course is compulsory for all students in college of education. In this study, only two groups were selected.

(LOs), and (2) apply the model to examine its impact on students’ learning. This research showed that a well designed
learning environment can enhance students learning experiences. The proposed model was applied to
an undergraduate course offered by the Faculty of Education, Sultan Qaboos University, in 2009. Results
indicate that the implementation of the web-based inquiry-learning model was successful and adequate to the
learning setting. This model of learning helped most students to manage the tools and techniques used during
the course; freedom on the construction of presentations allowed students to explore creatively the subject
domain; independent learning together with presentations contributed to preserve the uniqueness and value of
each student's production. Finally, the open educational resources used as support were of fundamental
importance.

This paper aims to explore the faculty members' use of students' feedback to improve course mater... more This paper aims to explore the faculty members' use of students' feedback to improve course materials and teaching methods at the college of education at Sultan Qaboos University. Triangulation was used by applying literary evidence, a questionnaire composed of the students' course survey items, and interviews to answer the research questions. The survey sample was (72) faculty members for the questionnaire and (7) of them for the interviews. Findings show that all the survey items on course materials and teaching methods are used by faculty members. These items were studied in terms of their relation to academic rank and teaching experience variables. It was also found that the faculty members review their instructional methods in line with the students' feedback and that they vary in their approach of revisions. In light of these findings, the paper put forward its conclusions and recommendations.
