The study aims to reveal the reality of youth programs in Oman, its role in protecting from behav... more The study aims to reveal the reality of youth programs in Oman, its role in protecting from behavioral and thoughts deviation and the most important proposals to activate these programs from their perspectives. It is applied on a sample of (587) females and (390) males, whose ages ranged between 15 and 59 years. An electronic questionnaire is used to collect data that includes two axes: the first is for the primary data of the sample and the program-implementing agency. The second axis contains a scale of (16) which is about the role of youth activities in protecting youth from intellectual and behavioral deviation. In addition to analyzing the content of documents related to youth programs in Oman, the SPSS program is used to analyze the data. It concludes that youth programs have an important role in protecting the thinking and behavior of Omani youth from deviation and it contributes to occupying their free time and directing their energies. Para el estudio de los modelos de termomecánica glaciar se requiere la definición precisa de la g... more Para el estudio de los modelos de termomecánica glaciar se requiere la definición precisa de la geometría del glaciar, por lo que se planteó al grupo de investigación de Simulación Numérica en Ciencias e Ingeniería de la Universidad Politécnica de Madrid una solución a partir de datos obtenidos de imágenes aéreas, tomadas con aviones no tripulados (RPAS) de ala fija. El propósito del proyecto es la captura de datos utilizando RPAS en medios de condiciones climatológicas extremas, para la obtención precisa de modelos digitales de superficie (MDS) tridimensionales de glaciares y la cartografía actualizada de los mismos. Estos modelos servirán de base para el cálculo del balance de masas y del lecho de los glaciares utilizados por otros estudios de glaciología. (Balance geodésico de masas, balance de masas glaciológico, avance/retroceso de frentes de glaciares, superficie global ocupada por el hielo, etc.). La singularidad de este proyecto es la metodología específica para un entorno de condiciones extremas de temperatura, viento, luminosidad, reflectividad, etc. en la captura dela información. Esto supone un estudio previo muy pormenorizado de todas las variables que podrían influir en las imágenes que se tomaron en la Antártida. Esta metodología se aplicó a un caso real en diciembre 2014, el Glaciar Johnsons, localizado en la Isla Livingston, sede de la Base Antártica Española Juan Carlos I (BAE JCI). Los resultados se compararan con otros datos obtenidos del mismo glaciar, por distintas técnicas y metodologías, lo que nos permitirá validar la fiabilidad de la metodología empleada. It... more This is a study of teachers and students at Sultan Qaboos university in the Sultanate of Oman. It looks at the perceptions of teachers and students regarding the use of Web 2.0 technologies in teaching and learning context at university level. The study follows semi-structured interviews and questionnaires as methods of collecting data regarding the experience of both teachers and students in using Web 2.0 technologies. A thematic analysis is implemented to analyse the qualitative data drawn from the main research questions. On the other hand, quantitative data were analysed by the use of Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). The data showed that the use of Web 2.0 has become a common feature in most of the colleges across the university with both teachers and students showing that they are positive about the potential of Web 2.0 technologies and applications in terms of enhancing teaching and learning experiences.
