This kind of campaign is distinct from their main target list. Pressure campaigns are about reduction in use making them less ubiquitous over time (like switching to linux next time u buy a pc and not buying their products by choosing a competitor) and using social pressure for them to make them change policies not explicit financial pressure yet becausetheir main focus is, naturally, on the main boycott list. Targets will change when a goal with the main list is reached and they can swap targets to Microsoft. This is is just ground work for a possible larger campaign if the pressure campaign isnt effective.
Things you can do:
• Don’t renew your Game Pass subscription this month.
• Don’t buy their new games or preorder any new consoles or tech that looks ‘cool’. Stop preordering their shit period.
• Call them out on their social media posts and make their comments nothing but hard questions about their complicity. Educated folks in the comment about what they are doing.
• Instead of buying Microsoft products when you need new tech get a competitor’s tech instead—do your research.
• Make Microsoft’s presence in your life less ubiquitous! They rely on people being lazy to sell their products (‘everyone uses Microsoft we don’t have to sell shit to ppl they can’t use anything else’) try watching youtube videos on Linux and making a bigger effort to swap to it if possible. I know i can do more by making this change so it’ll be on my agenda as well.
• Encourage your place of work to not use Microsoft Office or Teams and go with an alternative.
