T R I C K ( & T H A T ‘ S I T )
The people around town call them the Pack, because they behave like a pack of wolves: always together, fiercely loyal, a little feral. Stiles Stilinski, Scott McCall, and all of their friends are the definition of wild and carefree. Halloween is their night to shine, every year. They go out, play pranks. One after another.
It’s Stiles’ idea to prank the Hale house. They’ve never touched it before, and he wants to. It’s their senior year Halloween, the last time they’ll all be together on Halloween. It’s a virgin house so to speak (a lot like Scott), and he needs to sully it.
Of course, they get caught, because maybe Stiles is being a little too loud, trying to see who lives in the house that otherwise seems abandoned. Words like ‘hermit’ and ‘recluse’ get whispered in town, but none of them actually believe anyone is inside. Until someone comes out, roars at them to leave. Doesn’t matter that the dude is hella attractive, Stiles nearly wets himself as they all scramble to get away, laughing as they run.
Stiles swears he saw fangs in the dude’s mouth, that his eyes were a bright blue. He blames it on Halloween, the spooky spirit of things, but the rest of the night, he swears they’re being followed. It feels like there are eyes on him the whole time. When he sees the wolf in the woods at the end of the night, Stiles knows.
There’s something about the Hale house, and whoever came out of it, that’s different. It’s a mystery for Stiles to solve, of course. When he gets home, he finds a name, the perfect place to start: Derek Hale.
