つい最近まで、こんなところにこんな素敵な隠れ家のような喫茶店があるなんて知らなかった。
駅前とはいえ、通りから引っ込んでいるのとビルに囲まれているせいか、とても静かで飴色に輝くクラシックな空間はとても落ち着く。こういう物件に遭遇するたびに、純喫茶というカテゴリーがもてはやされるのも分かる気がする。
あまり喫茶店に居座ることはないんだけど、読書がてら2時間弱ほど滞在してしまった。その間に満席で断られる客が数組あった。入り口付近に座っていたので少々バツが悪かったが、それくらいに居心地が良い。
マダムお手製のケーキが評判とのことでどうしても食べたく、スペシャルセットAに。メニューの中からサンドウィッチ／プレスサンドから選べるとのことで玉子サンドとし、ダークチェリーのクラフティをつけてみる。
クラフティといえばフランスの伝統菓子、あまり喫茶店ではお目にかかれない。思ったより生地が薄くアップルパイのようなボリュームを期待していると、質素すぎて肩透かしを食らうかも。でもまたそれが片田舎の家庭の味っぽくていい。
浦和駅西口一帯は大規模再開発が決まって、周辺界隈の店舗が軒並み移転や廃業などしている。ここは引っかからなかったのかな。
