Eat a huge bowl of smoked teriyaki for lunch
Izakaya (Japanese-style bar) specializing in smoked food is located about 7-8 minutes walk east along Waseda Street from Takadanobaba Station. It is on the second floor of a building. I visited the restaurant on a weekday at lunchtime for the first time in three and a half years. The interior has an Asian feel, and upon entering there are dimly lit counter seats and a number of tables to the left where sunlight pours in. When I used to come here, there were always several types of lunch menu, such as daily specials and curry, but now there are only two meal menus to choose from. The prices are a bit extreme, which bothers me. ・Taco rice 1,170 yen ・Smoked teriyaki rice bowl 750 yen This time I chose the latter, the teriyaki bowl. The hand towels smelled like air freshener, and that hasn't changed since before. It took about 15 minutes to be served, probably because they were smoked. 高田馬場駅から早稲田通りを東へ早稲田方面に進んで徒歩5分ちょっと、早稲田松竹の反対側のビル2階にある「燻製創作居酒屋 けむり」、平日の19時から貸切での利用。
3年ほど前にお昼に来たのが最後で、その前もいつもお昼だったから夜は初めて。店内はグランピングをイメージした内装で、ランプで薄暗く雰囲気が出ている。
コース料理だったので席に着くと、さっそく順々に提供あり。ドリンクはコース料金に飲み放題2時間1,800円にプレミアム+500円が含まれる形。店員さんの接客は手際良く丁寧で、頼んでからの提供スピードも早い。

最初にサラダ、次に燻製盛り合わせは燻しが入っていて凝っている。やりいかのフリットも含め、一人あたりの量もしっかりとありなかなか良い。次のオーブン焼きもどしっと食べ応えがある。ここまでテンポ良く出てくる。
次がメインのローストビーフ。瞬間燻製ってどんなのだろう?と思ったら、上に透明な蓋が被さった状態で来て、蓋を取るとドライアイスの様に煙が出てきて一気に燻されるということだった。燻したてで厚切りカットされたローストビーフは香ばしさも相まって美味しかった。
ここまででかなりお腹いっぱい、最後のリゾットのようなご飯ものもまあまあ食べて、食後に軽くデザート欲しい時にコーヒーゼリーもあって、しっかり飲み食いできたので満足だった。
帰り際に聞いたところ、今はランチは人手が足りずやっていないそう。復活して欲しいなぁと思いつつ、夜も良かったのでまた来てみよう。
