Oh my gosh, I got sent this back in January, and I kept forgetting about it 😂

Okay. I don’t even know what the exacts of the original post was for this (and I couldn’t find it bc y'all know tumblr’s search is useless), but you asked for directors cut, so you’re just getting whatever I feel like😂😂😂

Have a (1.4k) snippet from the Phineas and Ferb fic I’m working on!! This whole thing is like 70k now, and I’m so close to being done (but watch it gain another 20-30k minimum). I can’t wait to share it with the world!!

(Disclaimer: This fic hasn’t been edited yet, and thus is subject to change when it comes to the final product)

(Context: This takes place during an alternate version of Across the 2nd Dimension. Human!Perry and Perryshmirtz abound)

“It’s your birthday?” Heinz asked, boggled. “I thought we already celebrated that this year.”

Perry carefully pulled his sleeve over his watch and shifted so the OWCA-planted cameras couldn’t see the exacts of what he was signing, telling Heinz exasperatedly, ⸢Major Monogram’s an idiot who doesn’t know how to read and somehow sent my birthday email out almost a month early.⸥

“Oh, geez. Tell me what you really think,” Heinz said with a goofy, lopsided smile. “Well, is there anything you want to do to celebrate while you’re still here? I could be convinced to pay for lunch or something if you’d like that.”

Perry shook his head sadly and pointed to the -inator then tapped the side of his head.

“Right. The Other-Dimensionator and my memories. Um… It’s going to take a minute to disassemble this thing. Since your nephews fixed it, it doesn’t have a self-destruct button anymore. Unless you want to tip it over the balcony like you sometimes do. Then I suppose I’ll work on repairing the Forget-About-It-inator,” Heinz told him.

He usually tried not to dispose of the -inators by throwing them off the building, since that was pretty risky for a lot of reasons, so he asked, ⸢How long?⸼

His nemesis hummed in thought for a long second before answering uncertainly, “Maybe an hour total to do both?”

⸢Guess we’re having lunch after all,⸥ Perry signed with a small smile. ⸢You get to work, and I’ll go pick something up for us.⸥

What fandoms do you write in?

Stranger Things! But I am thinking about dipping my toes into writing for some of my other fandoms....

How many words did you publish in 2024?

33,670 - wild to think I've already written more than that just this year 😅 can't wait to see where 2025 takes me 🤩

What are your top three fics you wrote last year?

What was your biggest pit of despair moment?

So, fun fact about me, I am a hardcore optimist, so I haven't had a moment yet? (Fingers crossed it doesn't come) Like, I've been bummed out a fic I loved writing doesn't get a lot of traction - but at the same time, if I loved writing it then that's enough for me, ya know?

What have you learned?

Honestly? To just go for it! If you have the idea, and have fun writing it - people will be excited to read it/talk about it! It's been so much fun throwing ideas at my new fandom friends and having them feed into the ideas just as much.

Did you beta any fics last year? Any faves you want to shout out?

Not any last year, but I am beta reading for the awesome @cxwzkeys fic Nocturnal Blood and it's been so much fun!! I'd def be open to helping people out in the future if they need another set of eyes.

Also wanted to use this space shout out the couple of beta's that have helped me out in 2024 and this year!!

@dame-zoom-a-lot is always a pleasure to work with, and I always feel like I learn a little bit more about writing when they're done helping me. Thanks for making me a better writer 💛

SO SO MANY!! But personal faves:
@talanashta's crossover fic Fallen Down - it's all about Steve and Robin traveling in the Underground from the world of Undertale!
@steviewashere's fic Angel - a lil hurt/comfort about Steve's scars that has me teary eyed every time I read it 🥺
@adverbally's I'm a Victim of a Bad Crash - again, I LOVE some hurt/comfort. I think about this fic and the sequel often

What ideas are percolating for this year?

I have second part to Phazes planned that's gonna dive more into Steve and Eddie's relationship! 🤩 Aside from that, I've started mapping out a Spiritfarer au that I'm super pumped for!

Thanks for tagging me @dame-zoom-a-lot. Sorry it took me so long to do this!!

What fandoms do you write in?

I’ve written for so many fandoms, but not everything’s published. As far as my AO3 account, I’ve published stuff for Stranger Things, Doctor Who, Marvel, and Undertale. But right now, I’m 70k into a Phineas and Ferb story that will be up as soon as it’s finished. (I’m in the home stretch, so hopefully before summer hits!)

How many words did you publish in 2024?

76,533!

What are your top three fics you wrote last year?

Based on stats or my personal favs? Stats wise:
Love, Your (Not-So-Secret) Admirer, Scentmates, and Remain Paw-sitive!
Personal favs, though, were:
Fallen Down, Codependent, and Beard

What was your biggest pit of despair moment?

I burn myself out too easily. I have a lot of big ideas, and the fact that sometimes I can’t make them come to life is upsetting. I just tell myself that I’ve learned from the experience, but it’s hard to remember that.
Oh, also when I’m really proud of something I did, but it gets no response. I take it a bit hard.

What have you learned?

Fandom friends are the best! Connecting with people over a shared interest can lead you to finding people that you click with really well about other stuff, and you can make really good, true friends that way.
Just talk to the people you see a lot of in your fandom!

I’ve beta’d 3 fics now for @lorifragolina! Definitely check her stuff out!

What ideas are percolating for this year?

As I said, I’m flying my way through a Phineas and Ferb fic. That has taken over my whole life, and I have not been able to really write anything but that.
It’s a human!Perry fic, and the current alt-summary on it is: “Perry has an emotion, then keeps having them for 10 years straight.”

i really don't vibe with robin as the wise worldly self-assured queer mentor patiently coaching steve through his sexuality revelation and relationship struggles, but i DO genuinely love steve and robin earnestly giving each other terrible relationship advice. just. absolute dogshit advice. steve's a 19yo jock and robin has never kissed a girl, neither of them knows shit about anything, but that's not gonna stop them.

I’m (sort of) watching x-files for the first time (its on in the background) and i cant stop thinking about how funny it would be if robin and steve had mulder and scully’s job. Its even funnier if everything happens to them by sheer luck and pure coincidence.

Steve rambles on about something that makes absolutely no sense and robin is just like “Its so obvious!” And they crack whatever case they’re working on. The fbi hates them and thinks they’re geniuses. they cant be stopped as they keep stumbling into truths that go way beyond them.

Today is all about @dame-zoom-a-lot! In today’s Mod Spotlight, we’re highlighting Zoom and all that they do for this space!

Zoom is our new Challenge Monday person! They get Monday scheduled and help us find fics for all of our special rec days. They also help out with our behind the scenes tech and functionality, offering up new ways to make our processes more efficient.

Zooms (any) started reading English fics in March 2024 when BG3 Karlach put them in a chokehold. They got into Steddie when cuips_not_cute's blinking red light randomly showed up on their dash. One day, she had a really bad day at work and wrote a silly fic about Accountant Steve inspired by Wynnfryd's 'Steve H. Who works in Accounting', and wrote a bunch more since then. He also knits, makes fan art, and codes up tools to make fanfic writing a little easier. It mods for Steddie Underdog Fics and Stranger Things Fanwork Recs

Zoom is always ready to help! It's been a pleasure having them on our team. They're constantly thinking up new ways to improve both the blog and how we run it, which is always exciting!
